Migrant workers in India are on the verge of starvation deaths from losing their livelihoods. Most of them are now homeless as well. Let's help feed the families who are stranded and those who set out on foot to walk hundreds of miles to reach their hometowns. Hunger deaths have no place in this day and age!
WE have the power to help - together WE can!PURE is working in collaboration with community kitchens in Hyderabad and New Delhi, local volunteers in the villages and towns in identifying the need and quickly providing support.

What are you donating towards: With COVID-19 lockdown in India, migrant families are the worst affected. Daily wagers have lost their livelihood. the means to feed their families and some have been forced to vacate their rented spaces. We are running this campaign to provide nutrition to the migrant families in Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana & Andhrapradesh, New Delhi and Bangalore.
Your donations will support migrant families' grocery needs for more than a week.
How you can support:● Donate at least 20USD to support grocery needs for more than a week for one migrant, daily wage-earning family.
● Donate 40USD to support meals for 100 stranded workers. 200USD will feed 500 workers.
How we are working: PURE is working in collaboration with NGOs, institutions, volunteers, and communities to ensure delivery to those who need it most in Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh.
What we did so far for COVID-19 relief:PURE, People for Urban and Rural Education, has been focused on relief efforts for those impacted by the much needed but unprecedented COVID-19 lockdown. Vulnerable segments identified and supported by PURE so far are
1. Institutions impacted by restriction of mobility thus losing in-kind donations that help run their old-age homes, orphanages (CCIs) and homes for special needs persons. Ration and other basics including hygiene products have been delivered to four old age homes,.
2. Two special needs homes, 4 orphanages2. Individuals affected by lost wages and work in rural areas were supported with ration and basic needs. Medicines where needed, purchasing prescription medication locally which would otherwise be received from government hospitals. Requests are pouring in from all over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh This is a continued effort.
3. Migrant workers stranded in Hyderabad. PURE pledged support for 25000 meals through community kitchens being run in partnership with GHMC
4. Sanitation material for slums. Started with slums near Bandlaguda Jagir. 100 families will be provided soap and hand wash.
5. Counseling those in distress. Supporting families of students whose educational needs are regularly taken care of thru PURE.
PURE needs your support to continue to work on alleviating the hardships of those who reach out to us and also actively look for those in need using our volunteer network that’s spread out across the state from the villages we have supported in the past with Educational needs and disaster relief.
