Lane Ellis died on July 6th, 2019 at age 36.  The impact of this loss is unimaginable. For those of you who were not lucky enough to know him, he was a true lover of life and people. His smile and laugh could light up a room. His kindness towards friends and strangers alike was unmatched. The positive energy he released to those around him was incredible, even during times when he was struggling. He always strove to make the world a better place in whatever way he could. He was able to live in the moment better than anyone. He was the true definition of son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was a comedian, gymnast, division 1 springboard diver, stone mason, taxi driver, salesman, world explorer, outdoorsman, traveling circus high diver, drummer, freestyle rapper, rock climber, singer, painter, triathlete, teacher, and role model. To say he was handsome and charismatic would be an understatement.

Despite all of his amazing attributes, he also fought a brave battle against many demons, the most formidable being mental illness and addiction. When he was winning this battle it was often through physical fitness and exercise.  He was an incredible athlete and he was truly happiest when he was active and fit. That is why our family has chosen to raise money for Phoenix Multisport Inc - Sober Active Community in Lane’s honor. We hope that contributions to this organization will help others in Lane’s situation find strength, hope, and redemption.

The Phoenix offers a free sober active community to individuals who have suffered from a substance use disorder and to those who choose a sober life. Using a peer support model, we help members heal and rebuild their lives while also striving to eliminate stigma around recovery.

Hunter was 18 months sober when he died. His sobriety transformed him to be a more kind, spiritual and serene person. He was stoked on life, excited for his future, and dedicated to serving his community. His commitment to the program was an inspiration to other people.

Many people have supported Hunter in his recovery, which allowed him to tap into his more loving and spiritual aspects. The Phoenix Multisport, a non-profit based community he was active with in Boise, helped him build community when he was most in need of connection. In honor of the loving person Hunter was, we're asking those who feel the desire to donate to directly support the people that gave so much love and support to Hunter.
