Organized by Pinky The Mobile Skin Coach
Help us secure a truck to haul our mobile skin coach !
Greetings to you all. I’m glad that you found our GoFundMe page. Pinky The Mobile Skin Coach, provides no cost, facials to prior and current breast cancer patients. We also provide a listening ear and education on the effects of chemo and radiation/meds, to the skin and provide them with a safe space that they can talk about their journey, with someone has been in the same trenches they have been in and are currently in.
My name is Tawana Mitchhart. At the beginning of 2020, I decided to take some personal time off my job and go to Paul Mitchell with my 21-year-old daughter, and I was 41 at the time. Class was going well and we were learning a lot and then all of a sudden, when the pandemic really hit, we had to go to remote learning. This is something that the school never had to go through before so we had to come up with creative ways to still teach us while we were at our homes. One of the assignments that we were instructed to do was to search out a specialty category , Write a paper and presented to the class. The majority of my classmates, who were the age of 17 to 24, decided to do their papers on make up. That wasn’t my thing and I wanted something that would hold my interest and after much research, I found oncology aesthetics. At that time, I had no idea why I was lead there, but I decided to get a certification in addition to writing my paper. I ended up graduating in August 2020, opened up my own skincare shop in Hermitage, Tennessee, not knowing that two months later, I would found out that I had Triple Negative Breast Cancer . I will spare you most of the details, but after genetic testing, I found out that I carried the BRCA1 gene so even though the cancer was only in my left side, I had to have both of my breasts removed. I had a bilateral mastectomy on March 5 of 2021 followed by mini rounds of chemo, 35 rounds of radiation, many infections and many surgeries, including numerous attempts at reconstruction.
Battling all of those surgeries and especially the radiation, damaged my skin tremendously. All of the products that the doctor was prescribing would not heal my skin. I kept peeling and burning and every time I had an issue, they wanted me to get up out of my house and come into the office so they could see me. I just wanted some relief in my own home.
that is when I realized why God had led me to oncology aesthetics. I didn’t know at the time, but he knew that I would need this information to heal myself later on down the road. So I started to go back and re-educate myself on products, essential oils, plant therapy, and I started to make salve and tinctures that I used on my skin and that is what healed my skin.
Going through that, reignited my passion for skin care but I just didn’t know how I would go about it so one night when I was praying , I just asked God to tell me what to do with the information that I had. Got into bed, but when I woke up the next morning, that answer was very vivid. I had dreamed that I would have an RV or a mobile vehicle and I would be able to use that vehicle to travel to peoples houses and help them heal their skin ,in the privacy of their own homes. That is where PTMSC was born.
so fast forward, I started out just by word-of-mouth, which is kind of what I’m doing right now and letting people know what I was doing. I met some patients and I would just pack up a bag of products and go to their houses and give them facials. I started to talk to my husband about my idea and what I wanted to do so he actually decided to help me out
I guess I should back up a bit. While I was going through my cancer treatment, I ended up unemployed because I worked for an airline, and my husband ended up unemployed because he was a musician in Nashville, Tennessee. When the time came that we could have six or more people in a house or a gathering, he had his band do Facebook live concerts, and on those concerts, he would play a cigar box guitar that he built. Someone asked him where he got it from and when he let them know, he built them, they wanted to buy it. that one sale turned into many, and the sale of those guitars is actually what helped us, along with some other agencies that helped cancer patients, to help provide for us and get our family through the pandemic. Once I was cancer free, and my husband was able to go back to work, we used money from the sale of those guitars and paid back the organizations that helped us out during the pandemic, and from there, he decided to provide a portion of the proceeds from the sale of those guitars, to my nonprofit.
So in his shows, he now talks about my nonprofit and why he sells the guitars. At one of those shows, we were graciously donated a 2022, 33 1/2 foot camper to convert into a mobile skin care unit. My dream was coming to life, but of course, sometimes dreams have to come to an abrupt halt.
I got sick again and had to have more surgeries so I had to put my nonprofit on hold and every time I tried to go back, I ended up back in the hospital with something else, but I am pleased to say as of May 22, 2022, 18 surgeries in three years later I believe I’m just about done. So I’m finally getting back into my office, starting to take more clients and attempting to raise money to renovate the inside of the camper and purchase a truck that will pull the camper. Part of the new plan is to partner with a skincare company that will provide sample or full-size products that I may put in skin care boxes so even if people are not in the Nashville area and can’t come in to get a free facial, we can provide them with a free facial box and a QR code to videos of aestheticians that will teach them how to do an at home facial.
This is my dream, this is my passion. I am just being obedient and trying to help these clients. Learn to love the skin they’re in,AGAIN!
please consider donating and spreading this GoFundMe. No donation is too small. Every bit helps. Wow this go fund me is to help purchase a vehicle to pull the camper, we will use any and all funds after that to help facilitate the remodeling of the inside of the camper and Skin care products that need to be purchased.
Thank you so very much!!
