Plast is Ukrainian scouting.
Just like America's Boy Scouts are prepared for life, Ukrainian scouts are preparing for life as well.
In Ukraine, scouting is very underdeveloped when compared to the USA. In the USA 0.82% of citizens are scouts, and in Ukraine only - 0.02%. That's right, even with only 9,000 people, Plast is the largest scout and youth organization in Ukraine.
We need your help to develop the scout movement in Ukraine.
Why is this important?
Plast is a journey, it is communication between peers from all over the country, it is tent camps. Here, playing, children learn responsibility and teamwork, develop creative thinking and leadership. They live in nature and take care of the environment.
In small Ukrainian towns, where there is no Plast, there are almost no opportunities to acquire these skills. In today's reality, 80% of Ukrainians never leave the territory of their region. In a difficult financial situation and in the absence of alternatives for non-formal education and leisure, children grow up without seeing their country except for their own cities and towns.
Scouting gives that opportunity for exploration! Often scout camps can offer the first chance many children have to experience nature and meet other children from the West, East, North, and South of Ukraine.
Scouting for Ukraine is a chance for a better future. These children will grow up to be successful people who will contribute to the development of their country. And we want many more children in Ukraine to have access to scouting!
Why do we need money?
This year, we need help to enable 1,000 Ukrainian children to join Scouting and change their lives. With your financial assistance we can:
- Involve and train additional volunteers to work with children
- Open Plast branches in those towns where it did not exist before
- Improve the management systems of the organization
