Poquoson P.A.W.S. York County
We thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read our request and see if you or someone you know can help!
The Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary (P.A.W.S.) was recently notified, by a concerned citizen, about a situation regarding cats and kittens on a property in York County that needs immediate attention/assistance.
Upon arrival, we discovered approximately 100 cats and kittens. They are feral, semi feral and friendly. We estimate 25-30 kittens are under six weeks old, saw a very pregnant cat, and a nursing mom with 2 week old kittens. Some of the cats are in very poor health and need euthanasia. We were able to trap 17 but are overwhelmed due to our limited space, fosters, and trappers. We met with York County Animal Control and homeowners to get permission to move forward in order to get the cats out of this desperate situation.
We NEED your HELP!
**We need experienced Rescues who would be independent of P.A.W.S. They would be responsible for the process of Fiv/Fel testing, vaccinating, spay/neutering and adopting out kittens, when healthy.
**Does anyone know of any small colonies that could accommodate a few more cats, and be able to acclimate them accordingly? Do you know of any barn owners who are willing to take either fixed and vaccinated semi feral or feral cats to acclimate? Daily caregivers are a must for feeding!
**Are there any vets/vet techs willing to come out to assess health as we trap?
We would appreciate ANY help in order to alleviate the cats suffering. Otherwise, Peta will be called to trap and euthanize all.
Thank you.
