We are raising money for POST84 - a student-led outdoor education program based out of Seattle. We are specifically fundraising to provide scholarships and funds to be able to run trips like Fall and Spring Survival, Introduction to Backpacking, Siberia, Desert School and many more. Any donation helps and we thank you for your support of POST84!
POST84 is an outdoor education organization that focuses on student run trips. We strive to encourage environmental awareness, leadership, diversity, self-confidence, and knowledge of the outdoors. We help to build a sense of community through outdoor educational experiences.
POST has provided amazing opportunities for students surrounding outdoor education and experience. Bryn Harper, a member of POST, talks about her experience with the program: "POST has been the best part of my high school experience because of the opportunities to meet new people as well as being able to share my love of the outdoors with other students. I wanted to join POST staff to provide those chances for other students. This program mean so much to me and I want to make sure it is going to be available to many years in the future."
POST is a program, but it is also a family. After a trip, students feel connected and bonded. Being in the outdoors and having to trust one another in a setting other than school is a unique experience that POST can provide. I (one of the lead fundraisers) am proud to be representing a program like POST. I have made some of my closest friends and core high school memories on POST trips. It has also connected me to other people in other grades throughout all four years at Garfield High School. I want to ensure that we can keep POST alive. Last year, we had to run trips fully online, and although it was amazing to still have POST as a community, it was not the same. This year we just ran our first in-person trip in almost two years and it was a blast! We can't wait to run more trips and have more people be introduced to POST, but we can't do that without our community's support. I love POST and can't imagine high school without it, and I want it to be a community that is everlasting in outdoor education in Seattle.
This past year we have not been able to run in-person trips which has severely effected our financial ability to support the program. This year we are working to run trips in person and we can't wait to show what POST is to a new generation of high schoolers. Any donation will help make an impact. Donations will help support lower-income students be able to attend trips and continue to broaden accessibility to POST and the outdoors. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause, it means so much our program.
