It's a fuzzy, horrible image of our storage shelter, but it's the only image we could grab amid 50 mph winds. Thank God, the additional metal heavy-duty garage shelter for the horses (and not storage) went up on Dec.12th—just in the nick of time! The herd was dry and out of the wind! Take a look!

We planned to replace this storage shelter with a more durable shed in the Spring. But now we can't wait. All of our furniture, class materials, lead lines, halters, etc will rot in the soggy interior.

We have to pull everything out and place it in a secure dry shed.

Hi, Everyone-

My name is Cindie Ambar and I have been volunteering at Pregnant Mare Rescue in Watsonville, Ca for 15 years. They have rescued more than 850 horses over the last 18 years and supported many community members who could no longer afford to care for their animals.

I am humbly asking for your support. While we have provided adequate shelter for all the horses, the additional shelter area is consistently inaccessible due to deep mud. This means that the seniors and less dominant horses have nowhere viable to go when it rains due to competition for space.

Wednesday when I was out, it was awful. We have a horse with a muscle disease that could not stop shaking, a pregnant mare that was beyond soaked and freezing and some seniors that were having a really hard time. All of these horses have experienced substantial trauma in their lives and deserve a safe, dry place. They have been through so much and deserve to be warm and comfortable. And, if you have ever met them, you know they are some of the sweetest horses on the planet!

The funds will be used to purchase and install a steel carport, both materials and labor. The one currently on site has served us well and having another would allow us to create both pleasant summers and winters for these darlings.

The wind is wreaking havoc. The above picture is our storage tent, the top is ripped and coming apart. I'll be heading over in the morning to relocate the items to a dry space.

Our needs are as follows: This hopefully will share what is going on and how you can help.

$588 is needed immediately for hay and grain.

$350 is approx. as the PMR truck needs a smog, registration, and annual fees paid. (there is also a leak in the headlight)

$250 approx cost of labor to get breezeway shelter over to pasture. It must be disassembled and re-erected.

Our expected $20,000 donation which usually arrives in December was only $4000, hence we are scrambling.

You may remember Rocky and Al. We were asked to take them about a year ago, as their 90-year-old owner could no longer care for them.

They arrived malnourished and confused. It was sad, as we wished we had been called sooner.

These guys had been together for many, many years. Rocky was diagnosed with cancer almost right away. He just couldn't put weight on. Vet checks and all our efforts couldn't save him.

Now Al is sick. We have done bloodwork and examinations. We have provided fluids and medicines. Al is declining fast.

We are heartbroken. Our vet has been wonderful, and Denna and she believe it is his time to cross.

So look at this silly sweet face. I have to go and say goodbye in the morning. The sadness is tough. Tears sting. These gentle souls touch one deeply.

We hold fast to our conviction that the horse comes first, and this is what is best for him. No suffering.

I have to stop by the back and pull out $375 for the man coming to remove him once he crosses.

I now have an additional vet bill of close to $800. And as everyone understands, times are tough! Any help you can provide is enormously appreciated. The weight of these difficult tasks does take its toll. With your help, we can at least keep the bills paid, and the care coming.

We can't catch a break.

The difficult stress of keeping the bills paid is knocking once again at our door.

This is Misty Pearl. After a vet visit ($800), the vet was stumped... nothing helped! We had to haul her to UC Davis. This poor little mare is experiencing a strange occurrence.

This horrific-looking scourge could be a reaction to thistle, a virus, or pigeon fever. It's literally crawling down her leg. She is lethargic, hanging her head low, and running a temperature.

She was such a good girl, stood very quietly, and cooperated as she waited.

UC Davis cleaned her up, put her on an antibiotic, and pain meds, and they are keeping her under watch.

One of the more difficult tasks in horse rescue is managing the money. I can't empty the bank to save one life when there are 6 others depending on us. Yet, the reality of this mare's life is a very sad story. She was dumped on a lot in Sunnyside, WA.

A woman who lives up north reached out and said I recognize this mare! Im so grateful you could spare her a journey to slaughter. I would have purchased her had I the means. So, we learn her given name is Misty Pearl, and she spent years teaching the little ones how to ride. Round and round, year after year, pleasantly and patiently carrying her precious cargo. Sustaining an injury to her hoof put her out of work, and sadly out of any luck. She was disposed of. Standing on the lot she and Moonchild were destined to ship. Except...we said no. Fate steps in and she ends up with us. Our generous donors stepped up, and they were both pulled.

Super sweet, nickering and enjoying our love, it's hard to imagine them being thrown away. But here they are. Moonchild is expecting, and with this emergency of Misty Pearls, we learn she is not. (This is a good thing !)

We are still recovering and working off Epona's visit to US Davis. UC is so willing to work with us! We're so grateful. But the hard questions have to be asked. (And I hate them !!)

What is the cap...In other words...what can you afford to spend to keep her alive, and help her heal? As a rescue you can't say...whatever it takes! It's not possible. There are other lives depending upon you. You must remain realistic and fair.

Trust me, I say no, I'm sorry I can't take this horse 25 times for every time we can say yes. I'm actually extremely proud to say that we have never lost a horse or, had a horse euthanized because of our 'Cap'. Our angels are watching over us. If we euthanize, it is because it is in their BEST INTEREST.

This is me asking for a miracle, Nothing less. We are all struggling from storm damage, lowered donations, and the stress of mud and coping with the never-ending need.

I am just finishing up receiving the 2 geldings this am. And we delivered them to my pasture. Made sure they were safe, watered, and fed. I was just logging on to provide all the wonderful supporters an update. I wanted to share how brave they were, how scared, and how trusting.

But instead, I got an urgent email telling me of this beautiful pregnant mare, PAPERED pregnant mare, only nine years old , dumped at the lot. She is a lovely buckskin mare, and I was told she delivered 3 healthy foals. They just didn't want her anymore... REALLY? My heart aches.

I should say NO! We have storm bills to pay. But I can't. She needs us. She needs to get to safety. So I am praying and pleading with you.

THE WIND WAS HOWLING!!

We are saturated and cold. Our efforts to keep all the horses safe and dry continue to be challenging. Shelters are blown apart, Fence lines are down, Trees have fallen and we are going to need to hire a clean-up crew once we get thru this mess.

Our most important part immediately is to get shelters erected for this evening. We ordered a garage cover about 3 weeks ago, with one side closed to act as a windbreak.

It is scheduled to be erected Thursday. NOT soon enough. This is as of this am...

There are 2 sweet-faced mares that have been thrown away in Fallon.

We'd like to save them before they head to the kill lot. 13 and 17 years old..Each mare is sound, trained well under saddle, and due to have a spring baby. 2 new lives hoping for the chance to live.

Here is the breakdown for each mare:

Ransom Fee: $1050

Brand Inspection required by state: $40

board for 5 days @$20 a day $100

Hauling fee (I'm approximating it because gas prices are all over the map.

354 miles one way minimum cost for both $1062

All costs total for both mares is $3442.00

These mares are very bonded. We definitely want to keep them together. They are very quiet and willing.

Please help us out. These times are ridiculous its so expensive, and yet, people keep throwing their animals away like they don't matter.

Well, they matter to us, especially the little foals waiting to live. What a rotten deal!!

Any amount you can give is extremely appreciated. We say we need the minimum of $3400 but honestly, $5000 would let me sleep tonight.
