Prevent Cancer Foundation

In honor of my Dad's life, I will be running the Newport Amica (Half) Marathon Sunday 10/13 alongside my longtime best friend Sarafina Milgrom, running her first ever (Full) Marathon!

It’s nearly 1 year since we lost my Dad to cancer and in dealing with this unfathomable loss—running has proved a productive & surprisingly emotional outlet.

Prevent Cancer is my charity of choice because I’m inspired by their mission to improve awareness, access, early detection, and lifestyle choices—in hopes that these avenues can at the least, lessen the impact, and at the most, lower the risks entirely of this insidious disease.

My Dad spent nearly 30 years teaching me how to be resilient, and as we all have choices in life, I choose to continue to live the way he would’ve wanted me to. I’ll forever be proud to be his daughter, and I take the most comfort knowing that he can live on through me.

Any amount you might consider to donate is so appreciated in honor of my Dad (Big Al) who was a fighter, and a trooper, until the very end.

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Cheryl Gantt. She was a cherished mother, grandmother and friend who brought so much love and light into our lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

As we come to terms with Cheryl’s passing, we are faced with the difficult task of arranging her final farewell. We want to give her the dignified and heartfelt send-off she deserves, but she would not want this for herself. She was selfless and would rather help everyone she could touch. Therefore, we are suggesting a donation to the "Prevent Cancer Foundation" that has a better outreach to millions of people.

We are reaching out to our community for support in honoring Cheryl's memory. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help so many in expansion of cancer prevention.

We also appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and messages of support during this difficult time. Your kindness means the world to us as we navigate through our grief.
