Thomas Thoms is fundraising
Break the Cycle QC
Our personal journey of 1,600 biking miles has transformed into a 21 day mission to help others that are working to help themselves. Using the power of our great community and the path the Mississippi has created, together we will help at least one family a day, Break the Cycle.
As we travel south from the headwaters of the Mighty Miss to its mouth, in New Orleans, we’ll share stories of 21 families and their needs – whether it’s a down payment on a car or home, deposit for rent, grant for school tuition, or providing the counseling and services needed to help Break the Cycle.
The three of us, Tom Thoms, Tom Rowe, and Jim Millman, will cover 100% of our trip expenses and have personally pledged $21,000 to fund Break the Cycle. The goal is to raise a matching $21,000 though personal gifts to meet the needs of these 21 families and others just like them.
Community Foundation of the Great River Bend will collect all donations and disburse funds to three non-profit organizations - Alternatives for the Older Adult, Bethany for Children & Families, and Child Abuse Council - to assist the families identified.
We realize the physical and mental challenges we face, yet it doesn’t compare to the challenges facing the people you can help.
Follow along starting September 10, 2017.
