The start to the year hit hard at Rafiki’s Rescue where we focus on special needs and critical cases. Many of our long term residents needed care & we handled a few involved emergencies within just the first two months. Cost of maintaining their care (food, supplies, etc) has continued to rise & we need some help getting back on our feet again. We currently have a large outstanding bill at our vets office and we cannot take in any more animals in need until we can pay this bill off and support our monthly needs.

Dooley arrived in our care with a severe case of pneumonia, which is life threatening to a 2 week old kitten like himself. He needs specialty care with a criticalist that is willing to treat a neonatal kitten as intensively as he needs to survive. We searched for one who was willing to do just that and give him the chance he deserves! At home oral medication and oxygen was not enough, he had to be hospitalized to receive IV antibiotics and he needs our help to pull through! He is fighting so hard and wants to be here - please help us give him this chance!

Orbit arrived in our care off the shelter euthanasia list where he had hours to spare due to a congenital condition causing his eyes to swell. For months, we aimed to preserve the vision he had alongside our ophthalmologist, but sadly his eyes took a turn when they got infected and the pressure became unstable. We had to act quickly and rush Orbit into emergency surgery before the eyes ruptured. This could not have hit our rescue at a worse time, we have been hit with a multitude of emergencies in the first week of the year and are struggling to recoup. We had no time to fundraise for Orbit’s surgery amongst the other emergencies. Please help us to stay afloat and pay off Orbit’s surgery debt!

Rafiki’s Rescue is a special needs and critical case animal rescue that has recently endured a wave of major financial blows. Taking on the most medical cases that many turn away, it has been impossible for them to stay afloat financially. Their outstanding vet bill is $5000 and climbing!

They take in cases that involve paralysis, neurological impairment, major surgeries, injury & illness, congenital deformities and more. They need our help to continue the work that they do with the most vulnerable cases and get them the care they need and deserve to live beautiful lives.

Sweet Jax spent an entire month behind shelter bars, starting at just 5 weeks old. He entered shelter after enduring a traumatic injury that lost him the use of his front leg. He was promised a chance at adoption once he was big enough for an amputation surgery, but when he finally was, he was instead listed for euthanasia.

We rescued Jax before that could become his fate & so that he could finally live life outside of shelter. However, he still needs his amputation surgery! Can you help us get Jax the care he needs so that he can start looking for his happy ending & forever home?

Hello! My name is Megan and I run a special needs animal rescue. I normally don’t draw attention to my birthday, but I’m taking advantage of the opportunity to raise some much needed funds for some of our current medical cases!

This month, Lord Theodore Willis the 3rd will see our cardiologist to have a closer look at his enlarged heart & grade 4 heart murmur. He has a plethora of congenital defects that have required many specialty visits, but this is the appointment we feel is most important! This appointment and the tests needed will likely run us about $700.

We also have little Jax who was rescued from the shelter euthanasia list because he needed a leg amputation due to a traumatic injury. Jax gets his surgery at the end of the month! This surgery will likely cost us about $1800.

In addition to that, we have more medical expenses coming up next month and are going through food like water! So my biggest birthday wish is simply keeping everyone happy, healthy, and with full bellies <3
