Who Are We?

We are The Flower Friends, a group of Tennessee students who have pledged to raise money for Random Acts of Flowers. We are extremely excited to be working with this organization as it has touched the lives of so many people in the greater Knoxville area. We chose this organization because we are passionate about improving the well-being and emotional health of those in healthcare facilities.

Random Acts of Flowers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2008. They are dedicated to their mission of improving the lives of the community by delivering recycled flowers to those struggling with illness, injury, and the aging process. The organization started in the Knoxville area but has now expanded into eight surrounding counties. Random Acts of Flowers has delivered over 650,000 bouquets which only continues to grow across the nation.

What We Need?

Random Acts of Flowers accepts flower donations from grocery store donations or events like weddings and celebrations of life. The flower donations are taken apart, cut, and repurposed by volunteers who turn them into bouquets. Most of their own purchases include things like tools and tables that are used by volunteers in order to make flower bouquets.

With the organization being around since 2008 a lot of the tables and clippers have gotten to the point they need replacing. Each table costs $400 while the clippers are $5 each. We are fundraising for two tables and 40 clippers which totals $1000. Each donation will greatly contribute to the mission of Random Acts of Flowers.

How It Helps?

As a nonprofit, Random Acts of Flowers relies mostly on donations. The donations from this campaign will go directly towards providing the organization with new tools for the volunteers.

Random Acts of Flowers is dedicated to uplifting the spirits of those in need, and that is not only necessary but also empowering to the greater Knoxville area. 95% of recipients self-reported that their overall emotional wellness improved after the unexpected delivery from Random Acts of Flowers. These bouquets provide a moment of kindness that uplifts spirits and has a positive impact on people’s mental well-being. The organization changes the healing processes in the best way possible.

Lastly you can follow and keep up with all Random Acts of Flowers activity through their Facebook and Instagram . Together we can help brighten the lives of all the people who receive flowers and create an enriched environment for the volunteers who work there.

We are five students from the University of Tennessee, united by our love for our city and our commitment to spreading joy and compassion! Partnering with Random Acts of Flowers, we are inspired by the spirit of kindness and the power of small gestures to make a big difference. We believe in giving back by supporting an organization that brings emotional healing by delivering flowers to individuals in healthcare facilities and other communities in need.

Random Acts of Flowers “(RAF)” is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that recycles donated flowers and uses them to craft beautiful bouquets, which are then delivered to people in hospitals, nursing homes, and hospice care. By delivering these floral arrangements, Random Acts of Flowers brings moments of joy and emotional support to those going through difficult times, helping to uplift their spirits and foster a sense of connection within our community.

What We Need

Since its founding in 2008, RAF Knoxville has distributed over 186,700 bouquets to individuals in healthcare facilities, thanks to the over 100,000 volunteer hours. Our goal is to raise $1,000 for RAF, every dollar counts and your contributions will go directly to purchasing gas for RAF’s van, which is used to deliver flowers to healthcare facilities and nursing homes across the Knoxville area. Each year, the organization spends $2,000 on gas, meaning a $1,000 donation would cover about half of the cost!

By contributing to this fund, you are helping provide flowers to people who need a bright moment in their day, whether they are recovering in the hospital or facing a challenging time in hospice care.

Help Random Acts of Flowers Get Back on the Road!
Our old van has been a trooper, but it has hundreds of thousands of miles on it and is held together in some places with a little bit of duct tape and a whole lot of hope. This van has been with us since the beginning and has carried flowers to more than 100,000 recipients. It's on its last legs, and to replace it, we need your help!

Without a reliable delivery van, our mission will grind to a halt.

Week after week, month after month, for the past decade, we have had the privilege to witness the impact of our mission at Random Acts of Flowers Knoxville – replacing anxiety, pain, fear, and isolation with hope, encouragement, recognition and the reminder that no one is alone.

Our process is simple. We re-purpose flowers that have served their intended purpose or are no longer sale-able. Using only the freshest flowers, dedicated volunteers create new arrangements which are then delivered to those most in need of an emotional boost and a kind visitor. This visit – this personal moment of kindness and compassion – is our mission. The flowers are the vessel to this moment as well as a lasting reminder that someone cares.

Recently, Marie made the difficult decision to move her husband and herself into an assisted living facility due to his worsening Alzheimer’s.

“In our first month there, your organization delivered flowers to his room. He was so happy to receive them,” Marie shared in a hand-written note. But even more than the immediate sense of joy, the gift from Random Acts of Flowers had a longer lasting effect. “Now after breakfast everyday he goes out to the garden and picks flowers. He has roses, tulips, and greenery to place in the vase in his room. He never would have done this without receiving flowers from your organization.”
