Hello! My name is Natalia. Two years ago, I moved to New York City from Ukraine due to the brutal Russian invasion of my homeland. This year on November 2nd, I’m turning 21, and I want to celebrate this milestone in a way that truly matters.

My goal is to raise $2100 to provide critical humanitarian war relief and recovery to those in desperate need supported by “RAZOM”.

We are standing, and walking, in solidarity with Ukraine. 500 km is roughly the distance from Kyiv to the nearest Polish border - a journey that too many have been forced to take. Collectively, we plan to walk this distance, and we ask for your support.

 

We are fundraising for "Razom" [which means "together" in Ukrainian], a non-profit based in New York that created an Emergency Response project to provide urgent help and support in this extreme situation in Ukraine. Razom is currently focused on providing critical medical supplies, helping children and women, and working with governments and embassies on humanitarian corridors.

Please join us for a special event to raise funds for Ukraine. We will be hosting a Ukrainian dinner to share our culture and raise awareness about Ukraine's fight for independence.

We will be serving authentic Ukrainian food like pelmeni, holubtsi, dill potatoes, and grilled meat.

The meal will include a homebrewed Hefeweizen, homemade Kvas, and Kampot.

The suggested donation is $20.

As Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine continues, tragic news continues to flow out of the country. The Russian government's unprovoked attack has targeted civilians and is a threat to human rights and democracy not only in Ukraine, but around the world.

 

Born into Chicago's close-knit Ukrainian-American community in 1992, I have only known a world with a free and independent Ukraine. Growing up, my grandparents' stories of brutal occupying Nazi and Soviet forces often felt like a distant past.  Over summer-long visits and a year living and working in Kyiv in 2015/16, I got to know the young and inspiring generation of idealists fighting for Ukraine's free and democratic  future. 

 

Today, Ukraine faces a renewed threat to its sovereignty and a ruthless attack on everything its young and idealistic generations stand for. Please join me in supporting Razom for Ukraine an organization saving lives in Ukraine today.

 

About Razom for Ukraine's Emergency Response Fund:

Razom has proactively focused on purchasing medical supplies for critical situations like blood loss and other tactical medicine items. Razom has a large procurement team of volunteers that tracks down and purchases supplies and a logistics team that then gets them to Ukraine. Through multiple meetings a day, they are coordinating with several partner organizations worldwide, including Nova Ukraine, United Help Ukraine, Revived Soldiers Ukraine, Sunflower for Peace, and Euromaidan-Warszava. They are also working with governments and embassies on humanitarian corridors for evacuations of civilians. Razom is a trusted organization with a highly vetted team of partners in Ukraine, Poland, and the US. 4. A culture of idealism and hope: Happier times in Kyiv.

 

5. Diverse in culture, language, and landscapes: A photo of my friend Lesya from one of many trips to the Carpathian mountains

 

6. Resilience in the face of adversity: A welcome sign in Slovyansk in Eastern Ukraine after the Ukrainian military recaptured it from Russian-backed forces in 2014. Painted a patriotic blue and yellow, bullet holes were turned into red flowers.

Watching the news of millions of refugees leaving Ukraine...trying to get to safety... while their loved ones go to the front lines, the phrase “We are watching you” came to me. I believe that many of us have those words inside us that need to be spoken, and that the human collective is asking…”What can I do?”

MEET THE ORGANIZER: WALT STEWART

My name is Walt Stewart, and I'm a Vietnam-era veteran, songwriter, artist, builder, and guide from Wimberley, Texas, USA...near Austin.

I have worked since the mid-1980’s to guide and heal people through their traumas, including PTSD, through organizations such as ManKind Project, Vets Journey Home, Return With Honor, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Guard, Boys To Men Mentoring, and others.

As a Navy veteran, I’ve seen the ongoing physical, spiritual, and psychological damage that war levels on not only soldiers, but also their families: the wives, mothers, brothers, sisters, and, especially the children.

In early 2022, as we all watched Russia invade Ukraine–again–I was thrown into my own sadness and anger about yet another war.

As an artist, this “stuck energy” became an art quest for me, in the form of a song. I shared this story many times over the last year with my musician and artist friends…and the art quest became the song “We Are Watching You (Stay Strong).”

I wrote the song “We Are Watching You (Stay Strong)” as a way to elevate and sustain support for humanitarian relief for the ongoing war in Ukraine. The song is a voicing of the resonance, to go out and vibrate up against the actuality of what’s going on. It’s a release, and so my message is to simply sing the song and let the words resonate out there.

I think it’s important to let the people know that we see what’s going on—I see you, and I want you to know that you’re not alone. Being half a world away, it’s easy for us in the US to fall asleep to the Ukrainian reality. I think it’s vitally important that we collectively not forget what’s going on with all those affected.

As a tribute to the life of Theodosij Hryciw, who passed away on November 1, 2022, in Ann Arbor, MI, funds are being raised to benefit the Ukrainian war relief efforts through Razom, Inc. Theodosij was 103 years old and a model Ukrainian patriot. His century was brutal on Ukraine: the Holodomor in 1932-33 (genocidal famine caused by the Communist regime), World War II (leaving over 16% of Ukraine's population dead), the gulags, persecutions, criminalization of churches, and other atrocities. Finally, Ukraine achieved its independence in 1991. But thirty-one years later, with Theodosij still watching, Ukraine is again being brutalized, leaving thousands of civilians and wounded defenders needing medical help. Please join Theodosij’s wife Lucia, his sons Roman and Yarema, and their families in honoring Theodosij Hryciw and helping Ukraine through Razom, Inc.

Dear friends and family, near and far.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has been slammed with the most intense missile and drone attacks since the beginning of the war in February. Among the targets was a busy intersection in central Kyiv, a playground, a university and many power grids across the country. Lviv was plunged into darkness for a day. This deliberate destruction is designed to keep Ukrainians cold for the winter ahead. As I checked in with friends in Lviv, the message was similar: the renewed sense of terror brought a new wave of determination and resilience, despite the darkness and cold. However, Ukrainians are bracing themselves for a brutal winter ahead.

As the world's attention is dwindling, it’s essential not to let this unprovoked and horrific war become trivialized and normalized. Please consider becoming a stronger voice for Ukraine through this small fundraiser. RAZOM is an organization that has worked tirelessly to provide critical medical and humanitarian aid in the worst-hit areas.

Thank you, guys, for always asking questions, caring and praying for my family and the people of Ukraine. My cousin and my other cousin’s husband, two young men, are both at the front lines. They are always in our thoughts and prayers. Dale and I have just sent a winter care package for both of them. Thankfully, my parents are doing well. My sister is reunited with her husband. It’s the apple-picking season in Ukraine, and I am so grateful to see them together at my parent’s home.

Ukrainians are brave and resilient. However, they grieve every death and every fallen soldier. The price is too high, but unfortunately, it became the only way for Ukrainians to preserve their freedom and future.
