Fort Ashby Church Fire
Berean Independent Baptist Church was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016, allegedly by arson. A suspect has been arrested and charged with the crime. Pastor of the church, Richard Riley says he was notified about 4:30 a.m. that the church was on fire. When Pastor Riley arrived firefighters were still on the scene and the only information available was that the entire church building is being deemed a “total loss”.
Head deacon, Larry Deitz is overseeing the damage assessment and will be meeting with the fire department about the cause of the blaze and the church’s insurance provider to determine details of their coverage and any deductibles.
The church fellowships with the Regular Baptist Ministries who has a Help Up fund set up through Regular Baptist Builders Club to assist their churches in times like this. They are raising funds to assist Berean Independent Baptist Church during this difficult time. We will update the GoFundMe page as the specific needs are determined. While the church does have insurance, funds raised will go to assist the church with items not covered by insurance, and any funds received in excess of the need will go to help other churches that experience disasters.
