With many partners in the hospitality industry, the team at GridPoint has witnessed the impact COVID-19 has had on restaurants and their employees first hand. In support, GridPoint is launching this GoFundMe through our #gridpointgives program to raise money for the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation's (RWCF) COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. Hi everybody,

Until recently, the restaurant industry employed over 15 million people. While COVID-19 has made life difficult for all of us, independent restaurants and bars have been hit especially hard. Some have already closed permanently. Others are trying to pivot to take-out or delivery models. Many have simply been forced to remain closed, leaving their employees without work, pay and an uncertain future.

We all have our favorite spots - where we celebrate special occasions, meet up with friends (remember REAL happy hours?) or just take a night off from cooking. During times of crisis - fires, floods, tornadoes - they've always been among the first to respond, selflessly feeding whoever needs fed. Now, they need our help.

I'm calling this The Restaurant Project: an ISO Initiative (Images Supporting Others). Having been inspired by photo relief funds such as Tim Tadder's Art for Assistants, this is one way I can give something back to an industry that has provided so many opportunities for me. 

I'm offering 100 open edition 8½ x 11" prints (6 x 9" image). For donations of $100 or more, you may choose one of the first six images shown below. 

For a donation of $500 or more, I'm offering a 13 x 19" print (12 x 18" image) of Polpo (image 7). This will be a limited edition of 20 prints, signed and numbered, and will include a Certificate of Authenticity.

Covid-19 and the resulting "shelter at home" restrictions are having a devastating impact.  Those of us who have been spared are looking for ways to help.  And, frankly, we're getting pretty bored here.

Enter: Quarantales (Storytelling for a Captive Audience).  Amruta, Avery, and Eli are organizing a storytelling event -- for a good cause!

On Saturday April 18 at 6pm PT/9pm ET, up to 10 storytellers will share their best 5-minute story.  Winners will be crowned.  Alcohol will be consumed (on a BYOB and SAYH [Stay at Your Home] basis).  Merriment will ensue.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all and will require all of us to work together to overcome, whether by staying at home or by continuing to keep essential services and businesses going. We at Jerry for Congress are trying to put our skills to use by raising funds for relief programs. 

This week, #TeamJerry is raising money to benefit the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation Inc,'s COVID relief fund. This fund will help restaurants and restaurant workers who are suddenly without jobs and whose restaurants may be forced to close for good. 

We chose the RWCF because of its commitment to advocating for fair wages, equal treatment, and workers' protections for everyone in the food service industry. The food service industry has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic because so many workers rely on tipped wages, work several part time jobs, and have no benefits like paid sick leave. They are a huge portion of our community and they need our support especially as many restaurants struggle to stay open and supply food for residents and workers. 

Restaurant workers deserve a fair shake and they need our support to get through these times. Any amount helps, so please, donate now!
