Fundraiser for Riverhouse Adult Day Center
Hi Everyone!
My name is Omar Galal and on June 17th 2023 I will be leading an attempt with a group of Greenwich High School students to set a new Guinness World Record for the "longest distance covered in a Conga line".
We have a green light from the Guinness Records organization and are set to give this our best to raise money for the The Riverhouse Adult Day Center ! The Riverhouse Adult Day Center is one of the most impactful nonprofit 501c3 serving Greenwich seniors and their families since 1977. All funds raised will go towards programs supporting seniors and their families stretched by the financial burdens of caregiving. In addition to the money raised we hope this event will be both an awareness campaign and a celebration !
- Around the world, there is a need for community based caregiving support for the mental health and well being of seniors. 1 out of 3 seniors will be afflicted with Alzheimer’s or another dementia; at the same time, the cost of unpaid caregiving in the US is estimated to be $271billion (2022). The average healthcare costs for each dementia patient are estimated to be roughly the cost of heart and cancer combined.
- It is a celebration of life and inclusivity ! Please come and share a smile, grab a free lemonade / coffee. Come and laugh and remember to love and honor our seniors. Bring your kids, bring your parents; come-by and cheer with your breakfast bagel. The Conga event is a celebration with an “all-are-welcome-here” spirit. Your presence and cheering will keep us going !
What we will be doing:
The current record stands at 16miles. Our goal is to beat that by lapping the stadium until we set a new record.
Venue: Greenwich High School Stadium
Date: June 17th, 2023
Time: 8am-12pm is prime time; we will be starting our Conga march at 6am and should have made some progress by the time people are ready to come cheer :)
