An Empowered Girl Campaign in Comoros
I'm Coach Pankaj. My robotics teams and I have been working with IMARA Comoros to empower girls in Comoros with supplies and education on menstruation hygiene and a strong STEM education through programming and robotics.
"Where is Comoros?" you might ask. They are a group of small islands located in the Mozambique Channel between Madagascar and Tanzania.
Many girls like Molina don't have the opportunity for STEM education in their villages. Molina moved away from home to join Comoros' international robotics team, and she is giving back to her community by teaching others through IMARA. Many girls in developing countries lack access to basic feminine hygiene products or menstruation education, forcing them to miss school and put them further behind in their education. We are seeking funds to provide these girls with the confidence to not only continue education, but to get opportunities in science, engineering, technology, and math.
This year our team has crowd sourced hand-made, eco-friendly, reusable feminine pads and pouches for girls in Comoros to improve their menstruation health and education. These supplies will help them be more confident and empower them to learn and spread their knowledge to others. Our goal is to support 75 girls and desired goal to help over 250 girls.
We are empowering these girls expand their STEM education through low-cost robotics kits, laptops for programming, and science kits that we will provide with curriculums for teaching kids from an early age through high school.
Donations of $500 or more will be recognized with a T-shirt from our robotics team (if desired). Funds can be donated through our sponsoring non-profit Rockville Robotics, Inc. (501(c)3)
