SRS's 2nd Annual Thanksgiving 5K will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 5PM in Central Park.  All that would like to join, please reach out for the exact starting location.  If you are unable to participate at this time, you can run or walk the 3.1 miles (5K) at your convenience.

Back again is APD No Shave November! We hope to beat last year’s total of $3,353 raised towards the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
 
This November, members of the Amityville Police Department will be growing beards/mustaches to raise money towards the Ronald McDonald House of New York.
 
This past month one of our own member’s cousin lost a long battle with cancer. On September 18, 2018, Meghan Alice Roach, 27, passed away after an eight year long battle with cancer. We would like to honor her by fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House of New York. During her battle with cancer, she received special treatment from the Ronald McDonald House of New York and her family is forever grateful to this organization.
 
Since their founding in 1978, Ronald McDonald House of New York has provided temporary lodging and care for more than 35,000 families while their child battles cancer.
When families must travel to New York City for the advanced cancer treatment they can’t get anywhere else, they can find a loving place to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. They’re proud to provide a supportive, caring place that keeps families close when they need each other most.

Hello All,

When opportunity knocks, answer that door! On May 6th 2018, myself along with my daughter’s Kaitlyn and Kristen, and my brother in law, Bob Young will be participating in the 2018 Five Boro Bike Tour in NYC.
The course is 42 miles in length and represents an opportunity to raise funds for a great cause!

Back in 2015, my daughter Kaitlyn was battling Hodgkins Lymphoma for the fourth time. We were being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital for over a month. Just a short distance from the hospital, we were housed at the Ronald McDonald House.

During this very difficult time, being only two blocks from Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital was a true blessing. Not only did they provide housing, but also meals, entertainment and over the top support for my loved ones.

I am proud and blessed to say that Kaitlyn is now over three years in remission, and has agreed to take on this 42 mile adventure!

My family is raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House as the motivation during this endeavor. Any donation would be going directly to the Ronald McDonald House to assist other families with children fighting for their health.

We recognize this opportunity and promise to cross that finish line to celebrate life for all families! Thank you in advance for your support and God Bless you and your families!

Hi Friends,

It's Kristen here! The Ronald McDonald House is a space provided for families supporting a child battling cancer. Often times this means that there are also young siblings of the patient. The Ronald McDonald house allowed my brother and I to visit my sister with the support we needed at the time.

My brother and I were able to come and go as we pleased, providing meals, activities and space to decompress after a long day visiting in the hospital. 

Many times we were restricted or unable to be in the same room as my sister depending on different procedures and blood cell count that day. The Ronald McDonald house allowed my parents to have peace of mind that their children were being cared for when their focus was needed at the hospital

I can't explain enough how important this charity is to our family. Any donation large or small can help! My family would like to help give back to a charity that gave so much to us during hard times.
