Our goal with this fundraiser is to provide 1,000 "Watts of Love" solar-powered lighting units to households in Tanzania. These lights allow precious family resources to be redirected from expensive lamp oils such as kerosene to other needs such as education, business, and livestock. Solar lights also reduce indoor pollution and global warming at the same time!
In addition to the physical solar-powered lights, Watts of Love teaches financial literacy, helping families turn savings from energy costs into earnings, further enhancing opportunities for growth and learning.
The Rotary Club of Evanston is partnering with the Rotary Club of Moshi, Tanzania to identify communities where the lights and educational programming will benefit families not just in the short term, but sustainably into the future.
