Friends of Oso Flaco Lake is fundraising
City of Guadalupe - LeRoy Park Renovation
The City of Guadalupe is seeking help in funding the LeRoy Park and Community Center Rehabilitation Project. The project is intended to bring back what was once a vibrant social gathering place for residents of Guadalupe and beyond.
The park was used by many different local groups for a variety of events, including quinceañeras, community barbecues, outdoor concerts, and Comite Civico Mexicano de Guadalupe’s annual Fiestas Patrias celebrating Mexican Independence Day. The celebration's parade used to end at LeRoy Park, but stopped a decade ago due to the park’s poor condition.
In the last few years, Guadalupe has received multiple grants to fund the project, but there are still significant shortfalls to complete the full renovation. More grant funding will be pursued and general fundraising will continue, to raise the remaining approx. $1.5 million.
This "GoFundMe" effort to support the City of Guadalupe is sponsored by the Friends of Oso Flaco Lake and the Sierra Club Santa Lucia Chapter -- we are grateful for the support by the City in protecting the natural environment of the Oso Flaco Lake Natural Area and the entire Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes complex. We are partnering with the Santa Maria Valley Community Foundation, which is kindly receiving these donations and passing them along to the City of Guadalupe without charging any fees for doing so.
