Donate to Save Oak Hill!
Donate to Save Oak Hill. Stop the concrete batch plant. Fix the destructive highway design. ALL FUNDS GO TO SAVE OAK HILL!
Please donate today to help Oak Hill Neighbors fight back against air pollution, the degradation of Williamson Creek, and the destruction of the fabric of this community!
Donate Today to Keep this Community a Community, not a Pass Through.
Your donation of up to $2500 will be matched by generous members of the community now, through July 31, 2021. Every dollar goes toward legal expenses and publicity of Oak Hill Neighbors.
TxDOT is preparing to begin construction on a massive elevated freeway in Oak Hill known as the Oak Hill Parkway. All along, neighbors and community groups including the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods, Save Oak Hill, and Save Barton Creek Association have asked TxDOT to consider a less destructive, wasteful, and outdated design for the highway. The community's preference for an at-grade parkway that would preserve a Williamson Creek greenbelt park, historic trees, and the Oak Hill community was ignored.
The impacts of TxDOT's plans on Oak Hill are only getting worse.
They now plan to put a concrete batch plant in proximity to residential areas of Oak Hill for the length of the highway construction, operating twenty-four hours a day, adding up to five to seven years!
How does this affect the community?
-Noise and light pollution
-Idling trucks spreading diesel fumes
-Particulate matter such as cement, dust, and metals from concrete production
Note that all the proposed sites are less than a one-third mile from homes, daycare centers, churches, retail businesses, and apartment complexes.
Your donation will support educational outreach, advocacy, the legal effort related to TxDoT’s proposal to construct a toxic concrete batch plant in an inappropriate location, and other issues associated with the imminent construction of a 12-lane elevated mega-highway rather than a lower impact ground-level parkway. Save Barton Creek Association is only supporting Oak Hill neighborhoods as the GoFundMe administrator.
