Hi, I’m Kelli Casto, the founder of Saving Our Seniors. I’m a one-woman show on a mission to fill an urgent gap in our community: providing seniors with access to durable medical equipment and fresh produce. Since 2016, I’ve been running this nonprofit from my one-bedroom apartment, a journey that began when I made the life-changing decision to quit drinking.
When I started this charity, I had no clear idea of what the future held. I was uncertain about the direction it would take or whether I would still be active a decade later. But here we are, embarking on this incredible journey together! From our humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a 2,500 square-foot warehouse, where we’ve collected and distributed over 10,000 pieces of durable medical equipment. Today, we proudly serve 10,000 seniors each month, providing them with access to fresh, non-donated produce.
This past year has been a whirlwind, but each day I wake up filled with faith and a strong work ethic, committed to our mission: No Senior Without. As I celebrate my 10th year of sobriety, I am thrilled to mark my 3,650 days of recovery. To honor this milestone, I aim to raise $10 for each day I have been sober, with a goal of $36,650 by December 25th. While many say that I’m saving seniors, I believe it’s the other way around. This organization has transformed me from a frightened individual into a vibrant soul dedicated to helping our seniors.
We recently launched a new program called ProducePac, where community members can purchase a pack of produce to directly support a senior in need. While this initiative has great potential, it hasn’t taken off as much as we hoped. In the next 24 days, we want to raise $1,500 to help us reach our ambitious goal of $36,650.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge all those on the journey of sobriety. It’s challenging, frightening, and can sometimes feel overwhelming. But trust me, every day is a new opportunity for life! I’m excited about what the next ten years of sobriety will bring and how our charity will continue to grow.
Help us restore faith in humanity and show your support for our mission. Together, we can ensure that no senior is left behind. Thank you for your ongoing support; we truly appreciate it, and we couldn’t do this without you!
