Dear Friends,
SCDT has managed to ride the wave of Covid changes and although we are still programming classes, workshops and performances, our attendance and revenue have been cut by almost 50%.
NOW, SCDT needs your support! We are aiming to raise $10,000 by Dec 1, to support operating costs and continue programming BEYOND the pandemic. Generous donors have offered to match $10,000 of funds raised by December 10!
THIS IS WHAT YOUR SUPPORT HELPS US TO CONTINUE TO CREATE!
In 2020 and 2021 SCDT:
-Produced: 40 performances; 20 workshops; 250 classes; 75 artists
-Moved to our new home at 33 Hawley Street, The Northampton Community Arts Trust
-Received over $25,000 in grants from the MCC, Art Angels, LCC, NEFA and private foundations
-Offered new programming and moved our entire weekly class schedule to a HYBRID MODEL!
SOME EXAMPLES OF OUR PROGRAMMING:
Class schedules
Hawley Street Ballet
Hatchery Teen Dance Company

Diversity and Inclusion
SCDT's mission is to welcome individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, class and ability. We do not turn anyone away for lack of funds and offer scholarships and programing that expand curation and access to underserved communities. We partner with organizations that work for diverse communities and engage an array of teaching artists, who represent the student body we aim to support. We also offer BIPOC waivers for all events, and offer scholarships, work study, and internships.
SCDT’s collaborative partnerships are essential to the mission of diversity. Hatchery partners with The Performance Project of Holyoke, MA. Young artists from different cultures work together to create and collaborate. Hatchery engages guest choreographers from diverse backgrounds including Vanessa Anspaugh, Lauren Horn, Jasmine Hearn, Shakia Johnson, and Sade Murray, most recently.
SCDT prioritizes and is committed to programs that support the needs of independent artists at every stage in their careers and their creative processes, from research and development to production. SCDT staff is composed of working artists who support creators in their art-making, and connect the public, university communities, and local and regional organizations.
