Scruffy Tails Humane Society

Scruffy Tails Humane Society, formerly Humane Society of Polk County in Crookston, MN was founded as a 501c(3) in January 1982 by passionate animal advocates, with the desire to help the animals in their community. Over the past 40 years the society has worked hard to help animals that have come into our care by finding owners of lost pets and finding loving homes for pets in need of homes, we could not have done this without the dedication of our volunteers and donors.

In April 2022, we assumed the name of Scruffy Tails Humane Society in recognition of the strides that we have taken and continue to take to grow and develop a friendly and inviting organization for pets and the community.

Currently, we are undergoing renovation to keep our building safe for the animals. This renovation is costly but needed! Currently we have rusted kennels, cracked floors, small impound area with no outdoor lighting in any kennel areas. The kennels will be replaced, the cracked concrete floor will be updated to epoxy, and the impound will be made with easier access. We will be replacing the ceiling as that was an issue as well, and we will be getting air exchange fans to help with the smells downstair. These are all things that are recommended to keep us up to code, and to keep our animals and staff safe.

Scruffy Tails Humane Society is a non-profit no kill shelter in rural Minnesota. We serve multiple counties in Northern Minnesota.
