Keep Help Alive!
We urgently need your help!
The rent at the Serenity House residence for unsheltered women has increased by 75%, and we have fallen behind in our rent payments. If we can't pay the shortage by July 20, the women currently sheltered in our program are in danger of becoming homeless again.
YOUR DONATION WILL:
Save the Serenity House Residential Program and KEEP HELP ALIVE! We must cover 4 months of rent to continue to provide housing for unsheltered who are in constant danger of being assaulted, robbed, and trafficked, as they try to survive in the streets of Oakland.
We are very grateful for donations of any size!
We are currently in a funding gap - we are waiting on funding from our new grants and contracts which will arrive in late summer and early fall. These are 3 year contracts which will provide stable monthly income and sustainability for our organization. But we need your help so that we can pay our landlord $14,000 we owe for the rent by July 20th!
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and your donations are tax deductible. We are operated by committed volunteers, so 100% of all donations go directly to providing safe housing for women who need it the most!
ABOUT US:
The mission of Sister to Sister 2 is to help women survivors of addiction, violence, homelessness, and incarceration HEAL, EMPOWER, and ACHIEVE their dreams, living in their purpose.
Since 2009, Sister to Sister 2 has been part of the solution to Oakland's skyrocketing homeless problem. Homelessness in Alameda County has risen by 43%, and in Oakland homelessness has been classified as a Humanitarian Crisis by a recent UN report.
Approximately 1,100 women are homeless at a given time in Oakland,
68% of these are African American women.

According to the Women’s Funding Network, only 4% of all philanthropic dollars in the U.S. go towards women and girls.
In 10 years we have provided critically needed services to 644 women. We are one of the few programs providing housing for women (regardless of their ability to pay), and the ONLY program which provides housing for up to 3 years while women attend school/job-training programs.
Over 74% or women who have completed our program have been successful in transforming their lives -they have gone to college, found good jobs, started businesses, and obtained long-term housing! Many now volunteer to give back to others in their community.
ABOUT ME:
I'm a mom, wife, sister, full-time Realtor and a dreamer. I volunteer as a board member at Sister to Sister 2 because I have a profound desire to help marginalized women transform their lives and a heart for homelessness. In 2013, my sister found Serenity House and went through their residential program. She had become addicted to pain medicine prescribed for a rare chronic illness. Not only was her life transformed, she now manages operations and development at Sister to Sister 2, working long days and hours without compensation.
I believe everyone can help someone.
Thank you for your contribution!
