Hello, all of you wonderful donors! My name is Jessica Azor, founder of Serving Souls, NGO and owner of Soulful Design and Builds, LLC. As the director of Emotional Intelligence and Education for Serving Souls, I have taught over 200 minority students financial literacy for FREE. That’s right, I have given away 1,000s of hours of $250/hr worth of information over the past three years. In turn, at least 4 of my minority students and mentees bought their first and some second+ real estate investment properties and/or land. It has been my pride and joy to teach people to not be like me, but to be BETTER than me.
This is Serving Souls Mission Statement…
“Serving Souls” mission is to serve disenfranchised and disadvantaged socio-economic communities metaphysically, financially, intellectually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. We embody and encompass all resources necessary to support underprivileged humans to their C.O.R.E. through Compassion, Organization, Restoration, and Education. Our leaders and directors represent excellence in their fields, thus we strive to bring holistic security, stability, sustainability, and self-sufficiency to all we serve. We are servants serving the entire mind, body, soul, and spirit towards growth and goals. We hope that our impact births both teachers and leaders that, in turn, create more teachers and leaders.
Although Serving Souls can solve many of the worlds’ problems, Currently, our core project is tackling the gender pay gap between men and women. Male-Dominated Occupations Are Those That Comprise of 25% or Fewer Women. This article is an absolute gem when describing this phenomenon https://www.catalyst.org/research/women-in-male-dominated-industries-and-occupations/. In short, if women can enter these male-dominated industries, they will get paid more. Moreover, there is pay discrepancies in the black community for the same job and qualifications compared to white counterparts. Please read this insightful article covering this in detail. https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/hr-topics/compensation/pages/racial-wage-gaps-persistence-poses-challenge.aspx
Due to racism AND sexism, BLACK WOMEN IN THE US ARE the most EDUCATED, OVERWORKED, and UNDERPAID demographic in the economic ecosystem.
This is problematic because black women are currently 53% of the black workforce with 10.7 million black women in the workforce in 2018. Here’s a good article with some stats. https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2019/black-women-made-up-53-percent-of-the-black-labor-force-in-2018.htm?view_full
Realistically, the 12 paid staff women here will not put a dent in this national crisis, but we hope it will spark dialogue on how we can start increasing black women’s pay in the workforce to be EQUAL to their white male counterparts.
A black woman only makes .68 cents for every dollar a white man makes for the same job. A black woman has to earn a Masters degree to get paid what a white man makes with his associates degree. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/07/26/how-much-american-men-earn-at-every-age.html
Servings Souls is actively changing the narrative by partnering with Soulful Design and Builds to build the LARGEST and ONLY all BLACK women construction company. Currently we have a licensed electrician, Phyllis, and a licensed HVAC technician, Earnesha on our roster. We hope to get more women licensed and certified as more capital comes in.
This is just the beginning of efforts to infiltrate male-dominated markets. We are coming for others next, but we don’t want to let out all of our secrets . For now, welcome these QUEENS and EMPRESSES building an impressive empire. We don’t hire employees, we hire BOSSES. This is MORE than a job, this is an OPPORTUNITY. These ladies are MORE than dreamers, they are VISIONARIES. I hope you all can join us in making HERstory.
