Support Shriners Hospitals: Help Kids Like Kamdyn
I am raising money for Shriners Hospitals For Children.

My Story:

My Son Kamdyn who is now 5 years old was referred to Shriners Chicago when he was age 2-3 for being a Tip Toe Walker. He was welcomed by Shriners and assisted immediately. They casted both feet and ankles and did re castings until his feet would bend and become more flexible at the ankles and Achilles. Once this was effective they then did every two week revisits on him wearing braces and visiting for readjustments. This was all done and fixed non surgically which we were told going into this by primary that he would more than likely need surgery to correct this issue so he could live a normal life and walk/run flat footed instead of tip toeing. He has come a long ways since Shriners Hospitals of Chicago was able to fix his feet. We are extremely appreciative of them in being able to take the time and care for our Son. I would like to help raise money for Shriners Hospitals so other children in need can get the care and treatment they need and deserve so they too can live a normal and healthy life. Please note all money raised is set up to go directly to Shriners Hospitals For Children. Your Donation Matters & Helps Make A Difference, Thank You!

"As any parent will tell you there is nothing worse than watching your child experience pain, hurt or suffering. When my son, (Matt Groves) was just a baby learning how to walk I knew right away there was a problem. He would walk a few steps only to trip over his own feet and fall. Such a spunky little kid, he would get up and try again only to fall down again.

It was heartbreaking to watch. I could see there was something wrong with his feet and legs which caused him to continually trip and fall. After many doctor and specialists appointments, I finally came upon a doctor that identified an issue with his feet and hips. We were sent to Rhode Island Children’s Hospital for a thorough examination.

The doctor said my son’s feet and hips were not in the proper positions and he would need to wear leg braces in order to correct the problems. Think “Forest Gump” leg braces. The braces had to be custom made attached to hard shoes. As my son grew, that meant new shoes and new braces. Over time, I began to wonder why I wasn’t receiving any bills for his care or the leg braces. As it happened, Rhode Island Hospital approached the Shriners on our behalf.

When I didn’t have the resources for all the medical care my son needed, the Shriners were there. It was only through the generosity of the Shriners that my son was given all the help and care he needed.

For people who only know my son now, they probably can’t imagine him as a young child who had trouble walking and wore leg braces. For me, when I see him now as a strong man in a profession of strength and conditioning, I am in awe of what the child in braces can do now. ‘Thank you, Shriners, you will always hold a special place in my heart’.

Sammy's Marathon Run for Shriners
As an infant, I was born with a condition commonly known as a club foot. At eight months old, I had to undergo surgery to correct my physical disability in order to be able to walk right. Doctor Barnes and his staff at Shriners Hospital did an amazing job with the surgery. What I am about to accomplish this Saturday could never have been thought possible if it weren't for the amazing people over at Shriners Hospital. This Saturday, I will be setting out to complete my first ever marathon! A marathon is 26.2 miles in total distance. For this marathon, I will be running for all the kids and young adults over at Shriners who sadly do not have the ability to run and compete in physical activities. Any donation is greatly appreciated but, it would mean a lot if each person would donate a dollar per mile coming out to a grand total of $26.20! All of the proceeds will be donated to Shriners to continue their great work assisting those who are in need of medical care for many different disabilities. I am blessed to be in the condition I am today and Shriners deserves much of that credit so help me in giving back to them and helping a boy or girl in need! Thank you!
