Hello, my name is Sadeepa Sandaruwan, and I live in Kalutara, Sri Lanka.

Since childhood, I have been deeply passionate about technology, software development, and coding. I strongly believe that coding has the power to change the world, and I dream of using my knowledge to contribute to society.

I have recently received an incredible opportunity to pursue higher studies in Software Engineering at the University of Oxford, England. This is not only a personal dream but also a chance to gain advanced knowledge and share it with others in my community and country.

However, the biggest challenge I face is financial support. My family’s income is modest, and it is impossible for us to cover all the expenses related to my education and living costs.

At this stage, I am seeking USD 1,000 in support. This amount will greatly help me cover essential expenses such as study materials, initial accommodation, and other academic needs as I begin this journey.

My Vision After Studies:

1. Organize workshops and training programs in rural Sri Lankan communities to share knowledge of coding and software development.

2. Mentor underprivileged students and help them unlock career opportunities in technology.

3. Be a role model, showing that with passion and dedication, even students from small towns can achieve great things.

Sri Lanka is facing the worst economic crisis in its history and needs your urgent support.

 

Sri Lanka is in crisis, and a majority of the people who call this country home are in imminent danger of starvation. The Sri Lankan people have been met with 13+ hour power cuts, dangerous shortages of much needed food and medicine, and a scarcity of healthcare supplies needed for medical surgeries and procedures. The hardest hit are those living at or below the poverty line and whose day to day income has been severely affected by these power cuts and supply shortages. 

 

This dire situation was triggered partially by the impact of Covid-19, which battered the economy and caused mounting foreign debts, in addition to rising inflation, and economic mismanagement by the government of Sri Lanka.

 

As a result, many Sri Lankan families cannot afford basic food and medical necessities. 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards local community organizations supporting people of ALL ethnic backgrounds in Sri Lanka. 

 

All funds will be split and transferred amongst verified Sri Lankan community-based organizations listed below: 

Foundation of Goodness 
Educate Lanka 
Care Station 
Sarvodaya 


Each grocery pack distributed costs ~15 USD each and can provide food for 1 family for 3-4 weeks. 

100% of your donation will go towards helping those in need, and not towards any administrative costs. SLANE will be working with these Sri Lankan organizations to ensure these funds go towards those who are hardest hit by this crisis and desperately need your support.
