Secure St. George's Future in San Francisco California.
"History of St. George and Kidanemihret Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOTC) San Francisco California.
Established in May 2014 with our first official church service, the congregation has been a growing prayer group led by our high priest Merigeta Amero Tebeje, who has been the senior and founding priest for the past 10 years. High priest Merigeta Amero Tebeje has built a congregation that started with 50 members and has grown to over 300. Our church is located at 2135 Sutter St, San Francisco, CA
94115 which we have been renting for the past 9 years.
St. George and Kidanemihret EOTC strives to fulfill the spiritual needs of its members by providing church and related services in a manner consistent with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church’s
faith, values, and tradition.
Our church community, composed primarily of Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants, arrived in this area with minimal resources but unwavering faith in the Almighty God. For over a decade, we have served as a sanctuary for our members, providing spiritual guidance, community engagement, and promoting the moral and ethical values that build responsible and compassionate citizens.
Our members have dedicated their lives and souls to support our mission, ensuring that the following our church in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area have a place to receive blessings, serve the
community, and call home under the grace of God.
For the past 10+ years, we have been serving the community in a subsidized rental facility owned by the
San Francisco Evangelical Church. We own a deep gratitude to the Evangelical Church board and
members for their relentless support in allowing us to use their facility at an affordable price.
However, our members and supporters have overwhelmingly voted to pursue permanent home for our
church a place where we can:
• Prepare our Children to be good citizens, grounded in faith and Ethical values,
• Provide spiritual and advisory services to those in need,
• Promote spiritual doctrine and foster community engagement.
