St. Ignatius of Loyola Convent Renovation
We at St. Ignatius Catholic Church are in need of your help. Our convent previously occupied by the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament has fallen into disrepair. Water damage from a leaking roof and outer walls has caused major damage to the inside of the building. The history of the building is a rich one. The first mass for St. Ignatius church was held in the parlor of the building while our current church was being built in 1893. Saint Katherine Drexel set up residence for the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in the building along with the Sunday school turning it into a convent in 1928. The school established by St. Katherine Drexel eventually moved into the 3rd floor of the church. The convent has been a home for the SBS sisters from 1928 until 2015. Prior to the pandemic shut down the building was used as a meeting center for different organizations of the church including Children's PREP classes, Legion of Mary, the Choir, and Men's Group. As a result of not being occupied for months the damage went unnoticed. At this time we are asking for your help to raise the funds to repair the damage and restore the convent to a state in which we can utilize the building for our new St. Katherine Drexel Parish Center. Our initial goal is $50,000 to start. Any help will be well and truly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!
