Stamping Ground Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization

This year we welcomed a new group of future engineers and started our season in October. The groups were tasked to build a robot worthy to compete with. They hit the ground running and we even hosted our first competition in December.

Our first event was full of nerves and jitters as most haven’t competed in robotics but after they got past their first competition, they were ready for the next! The teams focused on their driving skills as well as scoring. This year's game was extremely challenging and required a lot of driving skills. While a struggle in the beginning, the 80602B stayed strong and was able to secure a bid to the World Championship in Dallas, TX. They currently hold 4th place in their Skill work for the state of KY.

As with any event; there are challenges with funding. We are seeking sponsorship in order to help with the additional funds that come with this opportunity. At this time we do not have the funds to make this happen for these five hard-working kids. We hope to alleviate some of the cost for the families with sponsors and donations. All donors and sponsors will be displayed on shirts and in our pit area during the competition.

This year was an exceptionally challenging year for our Robotics team. At the beginning of October, the club had yet to find a coach to take on the role. I decided “how hard it could it be?” and tackled the task head on. We started practice in mid-November with three teams and competed in our first competition by December. Two of the three teams received awards and we were so happy! A fire was lit and we got to work.

Our teams worked extremely hard and ALL THREE teams made it to our State Competition in March. Our 80602C team made it to the finals portion of the competition. This year we knew getting a bid to worlds was going to be a lot tougher as Kentucky was only given three bids. During teamwork finals, our C team was paired up with another Scott County school and we took home the teamwork championship. This secured our bid to Worlds and we couldn’t have been happier.

Unfortunately, we do not have enough funds to pay for all aspects of the event. The registration alone is $1800 per team, and we are in need of assistance to help cover lodging and transportation for our students. Any donation you could offer in ensuring that these students have the opportunity to attend this event would be greatly appreciated. For your sponsorship, we will recognize you in our team’s pit area on a banner displayed for all to see. We are also exploring team jerseys to proudly promote our sponsorships during the competition.
