"In poor communities, too many children come home from school to empty refrigerators and stressful situations. The recent opioid crisis has also hit adults in these communities hard, leaving little ones at a loss for a proper role model or a safe place to go when school is out. As a result, these high risk children tend to tune out in school and accept the fact that hope for a bright future belongs to someone else – not them. "
Who We Are:
We are STEAMpark, INC., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, whose mission is to provide educational, emotional and wellness support to children in economically disadvantaged communities. With a plan to open STEAMparks every four years in high-risk areas, we’ve begun work on our HQ and pilot site in Keansburg, NJ, rehabbing/renovating a facility one block away from the town’s primary school.
Our ‘educational playground’ STEAMparks will feature MakerSpaces, with computer bars and science tables; Learning Labs, with Story Stages and innovative, comfy furniture for work and play; Art Studios, with easels, Art Books and room to get messy; and Kitchenettes where simple, healthy food is prepared as kids watch and learn.
About Our Bucket Brigade Fundraiser
We are pleased to announce our friends at Two Rivers Title company , LLC are sponsoring a Bucket Brigade fundraising event for STEAMpark, Inc. Donations made during this event will directly help STEAMpark provide after-school and half-day care for young children in Joseph C. Caruso School in Keansburg, while their bricks and mortar site is under construction.
The Bucket Brigade event details are as follows:
Tuesday, August 1st and Wednesday August 2nd
6:00 -10:00 a.m.
