Sylvia's Children Victim of Cyber Fraud
Medical clinic dreams were shattered by the international wire fraud theft of $60,600 for medical equipment that would furnish the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary and Day Care School in Uganda, Africa. Sylvia’s Children (a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in existence for 20 years) was thrilled to finally raise $60,600 to pay for the equipment to finish their clinic at the school in Uganda. It would not only serve the school comprised of 1,000+ children and their families but the village as a whole, too. The equipment order was placed with a highly reputable Medical Supply Company in Kampala (Uganda, Africa) and the money was wired properly to pay for the order.
During the email exchange, the wiring information was intercepted and the entire $60,600 was stolen. This has been devastating. Sylvia’s Children has set up a GoFundMe site to try and recoup some of the money in time for their departure on May 25th for the organization's bi-annual visit to the school. Founder Sylvia Allen said “Like others, we have been affected by cyber fraud. It feels similar to being attacked. We have worked so very hard to raise this money to finish the clinic and were ecstatic that it could be done in time for our milestone 20th Anniversary Celebration. The news of it being stolen is devastating.” Please help Sylvia’s Children recoup this money.
