MOVE Global is fundraising
Support Education & Welfare in Rural Cambodia
Hello!!
We are MOVE Global, a new initiative within Marshall Outreach Volunteer Entrepreneurs (MOVE at USC) where we seek to address global humanitarian issues through fundraising efforts as students! (Read a personal letter from our initiative lead, here, to learn more about our origin story!)
This semester, MOVE Global is focusing on helping the educational and welfare needs in rural Cambodia through fundraising for an international non-profit, TASSEL.
TASSEL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been assisting poor Cambodian children and adults since 2012. The organization’s main goals are to provide English education, create teaching jobs, provide food aid, medical aid, and emotional support. Specifically, they provide free English classes to 3,500+ students, recruit young adults to become teachers, distribute rice to families in need, and host bi-monthly social programs for seniors in the community. This is accomplished through the dedicated work of 43 local Cambodian TASSEL teachers, and a network of 800+ volunteers worldwide. This work is especially important in Cambodia where corruption, trauma from a recent genocide, and poverty pose severe challenges for students to access education and basic needs like food and adequate shelter.
In speaking to TASSEL volunteers, learning about Cambodia’s history, and more, we are moved to do as much as we can to bring help to Cambodia. Our small team at MOVE Global believes that our unique identity as students right now is not a weakness in the ways we can contribute financially, but rather a strength as we can leverage our university, network, and talents to promote this cause and reach more kind-hearted people who are willing to help.
In the holiday spirit of giving, we kindly ask you to consider joining us in making a remarkable impact! All of these funds raised will be going to the TASSEL programs, students, and families in Cambodia, and every bit counts! Whether it is $5, $50, $500, any contribution is making a difference on lives just as deserving of education and food as you and I.
Thank you so much for your help!
We'd also love to share more in-depth about our initiative and passion for TASSEL. If you're interested, scroll to the bottom of this page where we've linked additional documents and websites that provide more information!

Below are some of the specific monetary needs of TASSEL right now:
- A) Two new classrooms in Samlot Village (18K)
- B) Fund the Senior Center Program for four villages (remaining 45K needed annually)
- C) Provide rice to TASSEL students and their families (250K annually)
A) Additional funds are needed to build two new classrooms in Samlot Village. These classrooms will provide shelter from harsh weather as well as snakes and other dangers. These classrooms are an essential part of TASSEL and are where students not only receive quality education, but also experience love from the TASSEL teachers and learn to show this love to others.
B) The Senior Center Program is a new program within TASSEL where elderly come and socialize with each other through a hot meal, life-story sharing, games, singing, and dancing. This is especially healing for the elderly because 100% of them lived through the Cambodian Genocide and are suffering from war-related trauma, flashbacks, and the stress of finding enough food for survival each day. As of Nov. 2024, half of the $90K annual cost for this program has been funded through recurring donations. However, TASSEL is still looking for donors to fund the remaining $45K. While recurring and annual donations are most needed, one-time donations are also extremely helpful and valued.
C) Many TASSEL families do not have enough to eat, forcing children to spend over three hours each day looking for food. (They hunt for snails, ant eggs, snakes, mice, birds, etc.) This lack of food not only impacts their physical health, but also causes stress and hopelessness, negatively affecting family relationships and the students' ability to learn. While TASSEL provides rice to these families, the demand far exceeds the current supply, and there is an urgent need for additional financial support to help more families.
*If there is a goal that you would like to donate to specifically, please make a note of it in the donation comment!*
