Dear Prairieview Community,

Have you heard the buzz about a new playground at Prairieview?  Have you seen the current one? 


Your Prairieview Principal and Prairieview PTO Board Members have been working hard behind the scenes and now we are here to ask for your support too to help us PUMP UP THE PRAIRIEVIEW PLAYGROUND!

Prairieview is home to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students, as well as the before and after school care program for students in grades K-5, known as BACC.  Our kids attend school in a beautiful building filled with incredible teachers and staff.  It is our goal to ensure our Panthers have an amazing, inclusive and fun outdoor play area to match the inside and help create great memories here at Prairieview. Take a look at what we have planned.


Research shows outdoor play has many benefits in helping to develop physical, emotional, social, and cognitive skills.  In the age of technology, it is critical to get our kids playing outdoors and encourage interaction.  It is also an important transition time for all students as they move from children to young adults.  These school years offer our Panthers the last opportunity to still be kids and enjoy outdoor recess before moving on to Lakeview Junior High.

Recess on the playground at Prairieview is not what it used to be because the playground equipment is nearly 20 years old.  It’s outdated, not much fun and, quite frankly, simply needs a makeover.  The new equipment is designed to encourage creativity and inclusion and will be enhanced with all the current safety requirements.

The only way new equipment can be purchased is through private donations and grants.  The entire cost of this project is $45,000.  We are in the beginning stages of seeking community sponsorships and donations.  This is where we need your help!  We have created a Prairieview Playground Pals Partnership Program.

In the past, our community was successful in raising money for similar projects, including the playground equipment at Elizabeth Ide Elementary.  We are hoping to have all funds raised by March 2020 in order to have a community build for the playground before the end of the school year.  It is our hope that the community will rally again to support our Panthers and this project.
