Climb Kili for Kids - MJCC
Hi, my name is Paul Kavitz and this year (2015) between Christmas and New Year's Day, I plan to follow in the footsteps of many before me in a bid to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa.
'Climb Kili for Kids' is a campaign conceived to provide both moral support for this endeavor and to raise funds for the benefit of Maasai Joy Children's Center (MJCC) in Arusha, Tanzania at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Our campaign goal is $5,895, which is $1 for every meter of my ascent towards the volcanic summit.
MJCC provides access to English Medium Primary Education for orphaned children and those from poor families whose parents cannot afford to pay. MJCC gives children a quality foundation upon which to build when they enroll in Government funded secondary schools. The school helps to get children and their parents out of a vicious cycle of poverty by providing a holistic education that creates a brighter vision for their future.
Right now, the school aspires to construct a 4th grade classroom to shelter the children now studying in a tarp-covered coop. Your generous donation to this campaign will fund the school's construction of a classroom. Tanzania is a very poor country with a good track record of both government stability and consistent improvement in key measures of the Human Development Index (HDI). Together, we will make a direct positive impact towards improving the prospects of these children and disrupt an endemic poverty cycle.
Funds are needed this year. Maasai Joy Children's Centre is a program of Lift Up Africa , a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation (EIN 74-3116756). Donations are tax deductible and will go directly to Maasai Joy Children's Center. The Bluecrue Foundation has agreed to match your donation at the Patron and Benefactor giving tiers.
