The Cat Connection

When Misa came to The Cat Connection shelter, she was a beautiful, sweet, but shy kitty .  She had been found outside in January, abandoned! Although she is a young cat, 3-5 years old, she came to us with severe dental disease.  It appeared that she had never been to a vet.  In addition to the dental disease, she was unspayed, and also had a severe ear infection, that requires surgery.  Luckily for Misa this is where The Cat Connection stepped in.  As the TCC takes care of her health issues, one by one, and she is feeling better, and absorbing the love of her family,  she is beginning to blossom in her forever home.

The Cat Connection is a nonprofit cat rescue with the goals of controlling the homeless cat population, finding homes for the many stray and abandoned cats in its area, and educating and supporting the community with responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter.

Meet Pinot, an amazing 11-year-old cat who came into our lives after being surrendered with chronic ear infections and polyps. We’ve poured our hearts into caring for her, and with your help, we can give her the happy, healthy life she deserves.

Recently, we took Pinot to a dermatologist, where she underwent a deep ear flushing and biopsies. After this, Pinot truly blossomed! She became more friendly, confident, and sociable, showing us just how sweet she is when she's not in pain.

But Pinot needed us more than ever. The growth in her left ear turned out to be carcinoma—a cancer that required surgery to remove her ear canal before it spreads. Thanks to a last-minute cancellation, the specialists were able to perform the surgery immediately, and we couldn’t wait to act, knowing how urgent her condition was. We’re thrilled to say that Pinot is recovering well in her foster home, showing just how resilient and strong she is!

The cost of this surgery, including a CT scan and post-operative care, is over $4,600. We’d already spent $2,000 on her prior treatments, and while we’re so grateful that Pinot could get the treatment she needed without delay, we still need help covering these expenses.

This is where we need your help. Without your support, paying for Pinot's surgery will severely limit our ability to help other cats in need. We have so many deserving cats in our care, and this unexpected expense will impact the resources we can offer them. Every donation, no matter the size, will not only help Pinot but ensure we can continue helping other cats in the future.

The Cat Connection recently helped one of our neighbors with her cat who had an open wound on a mass at the base of her tail. The wound and mass required surgery at an expense of $1400. We have already raised some funds, but need $1200 more to pay off the bill. Our neighbor's kitty is named GirlFrenn - isn't that the cutest? GirlFrenn's owner is on disability so she can't afford this treatment without our help, and we don't have the budget to help all the cats we have needed to help this summer. Your donations will help us help GirlFrenn and all the other cats in need of veterinary care.

Meet Virginia, the Brave Mama Cat, with The Cat Connection!

When Virginia was surrendered to The Cat Connection, we knew she was pregnant and placed her in a foster home. While this was the foster parents’ first experience with a pregnant cat, they were highly attentive to Virginia’s health. This proved critical as, after giving birth to two kittens, they realized that she needed medical attention and rushed her to the emergency hospital. The hospital staff saw that she had three more kittens to deliver and required an emergency c-section. Sadly, one was stillborn and one did not respond to resuscitation efforts, but thanks to the incredible efforts of the dedicated veterinary team, one more precious kitten joined Virginia and her little family.

As if that weren't enough, Virginia's challenges continued when she developed an abscess in her mammary glands. Due to the medication required to treat her abscess, she could no longer nurse her kittens. Thankfully, her amazing foster parents were up for the task of co-parenting the kittens, taking on round-the-clock bottle feedings with the kittens. Virginia then developed a second abscess, this one requiring surgery to drain, followed by another course of medication which again meant she couldn’t nurse her kittens.

But here’s the heartwarming news: Virginia is on the mend and has continued to be a loving and attentive mother, grooming them and teaching them how to be cats. And her kittens are happy, playful, and thriving, all under the loving care of their foster parents and the support of The Cat Connection.

The cost of Virginia's extensive medical care, including the two surgeries and additional hospital visit, has reached a staggering $8,000, and this is where we need your support. We're reaching out to the community, cat lovers, and compassionate individuals like you to help cover Virginia's extensive veterinary bills with The Cat Connection. Your generous contribution will go directly towards settling Virginia's hefty veterinary bills. This includes her emergency c-section, treatment for her abscesses, and ongoing post-operative care.

Cid came to The Cat Connection last month after being brought in by a family who found him in their back yard. Cid is a sweet, young cat with severe cataracts and is considered blind (although he can see shadows, so he can still play)!

Last week, Cid was rushed to the emergency vet after experiencing neurological issues, including involuntary movements. It was determined that Cid likely has a brain malformation, and will need surgery to insert a shunt to allow him to lead a happy life.

Diagnosing the condition was very expensive, and surgery will cost even more - our bills are projected to cost over $15,000. This is, unfortunately, a large cost well outside of our budget for veterinary care.

We need your help to give Cid the best possible care so that he can get back to his search for a forever home. Thank you to all those volunteers, friends, and community members for donating, sharing, and helping us help Cid live his best life.

Any funds raised over the cost of Cid’s medical bills will go directly toward the care of other cats in our shelter.
