The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina

In September 2024, Hurricane Helene swept through Western North Carolina, leaving thousands struggling to rebuild their lives. Homes, businesses, and infrastructure were severely damaged, especially in rural communities where resources are scarce. Many families are still grappling with a lack of essential supplies, housing, and support. While federal and state aid has been critical, the needs are vast and ongoing, with many residents requiring further assistance with food, water, shelter, and home repairs.

We, students of the Keystone class Living Generously at Webster University, are raising funds to support the CNWFC Emergency and Disaster Fund. This fund directly aids those most impacted in the region, ensuring they receive vital resources like food, water, hygiene supplies, and support services.

With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of those who have lost so much. Your donation, no matter the size, will go toward helping these communities rebuild and regain stability.

Hey guys! I am a member of the Delta Chi chapter at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in charge of our philanthropy events this semester. Western North Carolina is still in bad shape from the storms brought through due to hurricane Helene. Places like Boone, Asheville, and Hickory are in need of help in any way possible. All proceeds from this go fund me are being sent to the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina as well as a canned food and toiletries drive on the UNCW campus being conducted in order to raise as much help for the communities in need.

Our names are Wilder Best, Trey Cabes, and Jim Bradshaw, and we are reaching out to urge you to support our beloved city of Asheville, NC, in its time of need. Hurricane Helene has devastated this place we proudly call home, and we need your help to rebuild what has been lost. Wilder is born and raised in Asheville, watching it transform from a quiet small town into a thriving city, rich with history and natural beauty. It's a place he holds dear, a place he calls home. Trey and Jim, though not from Asheville, have come to love Asheville since attending Asheville School. Though not new to hurricanes, they have never witnessed anything like Helene. Together, we share a deep connection and commitment to this extraordinary city.

Asheville sits in Western North Carolina surrounded by lush mountains and rivers. Historic landmarks like the Biltmore Estate draw in visitors and enrich the cultural tapestry of the community. But Helene's wrath has overwhelmed this community, causing all rivers in Western North Carolina to overflow, wreaking havoc by uprooting buildings, downing power lines, sweeping away vehicles, and taking the lives of innocent people. These rivers, once sources of beauty, now carry remnants of WNC's rich history, washed away in the floodwaters.

Helene's impact will be felt for generations. As Western North Carolina rebuilds and evolves, it will carry the reminder of nature's power and unpredictability. Now, more than ever, the resilience of Western North Carolina's community needs your support.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to aid Asheville and the surrounding area's recovery. Many residents are currently without water, power, or cell service. The Western North Carolina Community Foundation is in dire need of resources to assist those affected. The WNCCF has a very independent, courageous, and capable team, but they need your help in order to make an impact. Your donations will play a crucial role in restoring WNC to a new story. WNCCF will help Western North Carolina rebuild in the present, and also help support WNC long term. We cannot stand idle when our city needs us the most. Every contribution makes a difference in the lives of those striving to rebuild their homes and their futures. All donations will go directly to the WNCCF. The Outpost NRG is having a benefit to help fund those devastated by Helene. As part of the Appalachian Community, we have many ties to those effected and want to help our neighbors in need. We have chosen The Community Foundation of Western NC to receive those funds. All donations offered here will go directly to CFWNC through this Go Fund Me Campaign. CFWNC has activated its Emergency and Disaster Response Fund to accept and disburse funds supporting a regional response and relief efforts in 18 counties of Western North Carolina including the Qualla Boundary. Funds will ensure that frontline nonprofits have the resources they need for the critical early response and continuing recovery. The Outpost will match up to $2,000 of what is raised.

I'm Jeremy, One of the coaches at CrossFit Angier, in Angier, NC. At CrossFit Angier, we believe that community is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not just about fitness; it’s about building connections, supporting one another, and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our commitment to community has become even more vital. Many of us at the gym, whether coaches or members, know people who have been directly impacted by Helene.

As a local gym, we recognize our responsibility to support those in need. As a strong gym community, we have decided that part of our Halloween activities this year will raising funds to help those who have been impacted by hurricane Helene.
