Hi everyone,

On 11/17/23, I heard the worst news of my life: "It is breast cancer." I was only 33, and it felt as if the world as I knew it was over. And I know it was. Through one year of survivorship, I had to deal with fear, anxiety, and anger. But I also found love, friendship, and compassion. I was helped by many organizations—and continue to be—that exist to make this experience less lonely, that create community when you become different.

I am here asking for you to help me give back to this community.

The Ellie Fund is a 501C3 charity that has one mission: to alleviate the physical, financial, and emotional side effects of breast cancer treatment, partnering in a patient’s journey towards recovery and healing. Your donation will help breast cancer survivors take their mind away from their crazy medical history and provide some relief to them.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

In August of 2021, at the age of 34, my life took a turn I never expected. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, and my world was turned upside down. Navigating this journey has been one of the most challenging and transformative experiences of my life.

Throughout my fight, I found strength in the support of my loved ones, but I also realized how much strength comes from the broader community and the resources available through organizations dedicated to supporting cancer patients. One charity in particular is the Ellie Fund. They provided non medical support, such as grocery store gift cards, help paying for child care and financial help with utilities.

Today, I am reaching out to you with a personal request. Since receiving such support from the Ellie Fund I have always wanted to give back to make sure others fighting this battle can benefit from this incredible resource. By contributing, you can help me in my efforts in paying it forward and hopefully ease some of the financial burden that often comes with fighting this battle.

Hi my name is Laurie-Jean, and I

am raising money for the Ellie Fund during the upcoming 2024 Vermont City Marathon at the end of May. The Ellie Fund is an organization that provides essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday.

This cause is very near and dear to my heart as I am dedicating this run to my late grandmother, who bravely battled breast cancer. My goal is to continue to honor her and all of the individuals who have fought and continue to fight the battle against breast cancer.

Running for Breast Cancer
For those that know me well I have always been a runner at heart. This year I decided that I was going to cross something off of my bucket list and run the Twin Lobster Half Marathon in Gloucester. I have had an amazing time training with an incredible group of women.
As is true with many of us, breast cancer has touched my life in a number of ways and most recently a very close friend of mine has been battling the disease and I am so grateful to say she is winning the battle. On Sunday 6/7, as I run my 13.1 miles I will be thinking of her and they others that have been touched by the disease. As I think of my physical struggle I know it is much easier than what they face each day.
Ellie's Fund is a unique organization that provides essential support for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of every day life allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing.
Please donate to support these amazing women as the struggle to regain their health, perhaps manage a busy family and maybe even their career and find that their burden is just a little bit lighter.

The 19th Annual FTC Cup is dedicated to our dear friend and colleague Thanda and her fight with cancer. The fee this year is waived and instead we are asking everyone to make a contribution to the Ellie Fund.

The Ellie Fund provides assistance to breast cancer patients residing in and/or receiving treatment in Massachusetts. Through our Healing Together Patient and Family Care Program and Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Program, we provide critical support services free of charge to help relieve a breast cancer patient’s burden while in treatment. The Bar Method will host a class on Sunday October 24, 2021 at 10:45am at The Bar Method Boston-Back Bay (234 Clarendon St. Boston, MA) the class will be taught by Christina Dioguardi and will be offered both in studio, and virtually via zoom.
