Let's Close the Gender Gap in STEM
The Federal City Public Service Foundation (FCPSF) and the DC Data+Women group will be providing a workshop to teens on Data Analytics, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at DC government’s InnoMaytion Hackathon.
The partnership for this event has volunteers and a location but we have one challenge: no computers! The purpose of this gofundme page is to raise $6,500 to purchase 20 laptops for students to learn Data Analytics at this Hackathon. After the Hackathon we will continue to use these laptops to conduct future workshops. Please consider donating today.
This 3 hour Data Analytics workshop is designed to teach and inspire teens (girls in particular) to learn more about data and potentially pursue careers in this field. Data analytics is the process of examining data sets in order to draw conclusions about the information they contain. This process is aided by specialized systems and software. In the workshop we plan to discuss and teach students about these systems and softwares. Data analysis and Data Scientist degrees are in demand skills and tomorrow’s future.
