The Foundation For Leon County Schools

As a mother of a 3rd and 4th grader in the Leon County Public School system, I am grateful to the school community that has embraced and supported my children and so many other children through unimaginable difficulty during the pandemic. We're surrounded by love.

 

When the Florida Legislature, at the urging of Gov. Ron DeSantis, passed legislation to deny our teachers hard-earned bonus pay because our district chose to uphold masking during a deadly surge, it was infuriating. We teach our children the importance of supporting one another and doing the right thing, especially in difficult times. The teachers and administrators in our school district have gone above and beyond working to meet kids where they are in the classroom while overcoming a constant stream of hardships caused by the pandemic.

 

Here in Leon County, I believe we can demonstrate the kind of community we are. Where we live out the values of "love thy neighbor" by supporting the teachers and professionals that take great care of our children. Will you join me? 

For tax purposes, the Foundation for Leon County Schools is unable to receive these funds directly. I am in conversation with other local organizations to identify ways the funding raised here can benefit our local teachers directly. I will update this page as I get more information.
