GFAA Fitness Ctr Rehab in Memory of Greg Swinson
The Gloucester Fishermen Athletic Association has been working since 2008 to prioritize giving the student athletics of GHS the tools they need to be competitive and excel at whatever sport/activity they choose. After discussions with the athletic director, coaches, trainers, and athletes, we have set our sights on a total revamp of the high school's current weight room/fitness center. This room has not been touched in well over 20 years! The equipment is outdated, damaged, and makeshift, and the room is dreary and unwelcoming. The center will be dedicated to the late Greg Swinson for his commitment to the physical well-being and education of Gloucester's youth.
Our budget is $120k, and a generous friend of Gloucester Athletics has pledged to match the first $50k raised. While our annual appeal and some class challenges have helped us raise $15k, we need the community's help to get us to the finish line. Donations received will have double the impact!
We have a number of community initiatives benefiting this exciting project. Please be sure to mention a specific fundraiser/event/class challenge with your donation.

1. We are excited to be partnering with the Gloucester Police Department for their first-ever Gloucester Police Lobster Crate Race. The funds raised for participation fees and additional pledges of support from the community for the cause will go directly toward the fitness center project. (Please note participant name with your donation)
2. We are also thrilled that long-time GHS conditional coach, Mike Lattof, has donated several of his annual t-shirts with motivational messages which have been artfully designed into a quilt hand-made by Rosalie Lentini. This quilt was a labor of love by a community member who donated her time and materials during the pandemic to make this one-of-a-kind work of art. Members of GHS football teams have been challenged to make pledges to support the project (Please note your name and playing year with your donation).

We know that athletics plays a vital role in a child's life by building confidence through commitment, discipline, responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and leadership - all of which carry back to the classroom and forward to future life choices. Gloucester is known for its successful athletic programs. The Gloucester community is also known for its strong support of our athletes and athletic teams. We hope that we can count on you for your financial support to continue to fulfill our mission.
