On October 10th, 2024 the world lost a beautiful soul and heaven gained its newest angel.
Brendan McCann was somebody you felt like you knew for your entire life, even if you had just met him 5 minutes ago. He possessed this indescribable warmth and enthusiasm that radiated from his million dollar smile and infectious belly laughs - always one to crack a joke and break the ice. Nobody was easier to be friends with and there was nobody you looked forward to spending time with more than Brendan. He just made life better in the most effortless way.
He had this innate gift of connecting with people and bringing them together everywhere he went. Brendan cast a wide net with his friendships, making friends in every room he stepped into, while leaving each room a little brighter and a little lighter when he left. He loved his mom Patsy more than anything, and adored his niece and nephews the same way they adored him. If kids were around, he was the first one to play with them, making them laugh until their cheeks hurt without fail.
Brendan was many things to many people, but one quality that anyone who ever met him would agree on is generosity. He was generous with his time, his presence, his smile, and his heart. This was never more apparent than during Brendan’s two service trips to Guatemala in 2023 and 2024 with The GOD’S CHILD Project (
www.GodsChild.org), which you could tell meant the world to him. Ever the giving spirit, this new experience was a perfect fit for him as he built new homes for severely impoverished families and nurtured malnourished baby-patients back to health. He seamlessly formed what were to be lifelong friendships with his team members, and left an indelible mark on a community that was blessed by his gifts, kindness, and talents.
He was planning to return for a third time in February of next year. Brendan would love nothing more than for his community to remember him by contributing to a cause that was near and dear to his giant heart of gold.
We are forever thankful for the privilege of Brendan sharing a little bit of his life with us, whether that be his friends and family whom he loved so much or a stranger on the street. His presence in the world will be sorely missed, but the countless memories he gave us and the way he made us feel will stay with us forever.
Anyone who knew Brendan knows he will be watching over all of us, and one way we can honor him is to support his favorite charity. Please use the link below to donate if you are able.
With love, for Brendan.
