Savannah Patterson is one of the Atlanta Solidarity Fund defendants indicted on the Stop Cop City/Defend the Forest RICO. Savannah currently pays the bill through their landscaping job. Because landscaping and court are both daytime situations, they won’t be able to work during the duration of the RICO trial. We don’t know how long that will be, but we’re preparing for up to 2 months without work.

Court prevents them from working, but they still gotta pay the bills!

For the last several years, Ellie and John have been serving prison sentences for charges related to the 2020 George Floyd Uprising and it is finally time for them to come home! Ellie hopes to start a barber shop, reconnect with his child, and get back involved with community organizing. John also wants to continue his community organizing work, and is interested in food justice, animal rights advocacy, and vegan-ism.

Even though they’re both so grateful for the lifelines of support (like books, commissary, mail, and phone calls), as you can imagine, being separated from their communities has stripped them of many vital resources for living – most especially their jobs and housing. The transition from prison to freedom is a rough one, and we can make it easier with our financial support.

This fundraiser will help them with some of the basics of daily living such as clothes, food, transportation, hygienic products, and medical care. We have also created a wish list of specific items that they requested if your preference is to gift something from their list. We’re also welcoming donations of more expensive items such as laptops, bicycles, new cell phones, barber supplies, and other generous gifts. We will also happily receive any job leads for Ellie and John, including positions in barber shops, vegan/health food/nutrition work, and advocacy and organizing work.

Atlanta IWOC

Throughout the movement to Stop Cop City, there have been multiple mass traumatizing events, with more likely on the horizon. Whether it's being snatched off the streets during a protest, the forest being raided, or a friend being murdered by the police, many involved in this movement have been left with deep emotional scars that need tending. Even predating this particular movement, the collective trauma of neverending police brutality and more and more frequent lethal climate disasters have taken deep root in our cultural unconscious. Yet no matter what they've faced, the people of Atlanta and beyond have continued with incredible resilience and bravery; these folks deserve healing. Communal care as well as individualized healing services should be centered in every revolutionary practice. At the end of January, a beautiful event named the Comrade Care Clinic materialized and was able to provide massage, yoga, NADA acupuncture, individual and group counseling, and food to over a hundred participants! Additionally, some wonderfully generous folks have been able to provide low-cost ongoing therapeutic services to many of the folks deeply impacted by recent tragedies. This is the future of care that we envision. However, to make this project sustainable, financial support is necessary. Thus the birth of this fundraiser. Our goal is to relieve the financial burden of healing activists' psyches and calming their nervous systems. The money raised from this effort will go directly toward paying for therapeutic services such as psychotherapy, grief counseling, peer support, and similar support services. This money will also support a developing web of healing resources growing throughout Atlanta such as the Therapeutic Artist's Resource, Carewave Atlanta, and other values-aligned healing projects. The Library of the Commons is 501(c)3 non-profit partnered with the Comrad Care Collective. All funds donated to this fundraiser will be used to support the mission of the Comrad Care Collective.

Muscogee community members from across the country will be gathering this April to discuss land, environmental justice and current events in Weelaunee ( so called South River Forest) and unceded Muscogee homelands. Funds will be used for travel, food, lodging, and honorariums for participants. Please donate generously to support this historic gathering. Any excess funds will go toward future travel of Mvskokvlke Migration to homelands.
