Soccer Team in Uganda in the Name of Justice
For the past 12 years, a boy named Justice has brought light and love to all those around him. Leading with his big contagious smile, he put care and focus into the many things that he was passionate about; Soccer, Skateboarding, Food, Travel, Art, Nature, Reading, Writing, Music and most importantly his friends and family.
On February 20th, 2022 Justice traveled on vacation from Massachusetts to Puerto Rico with a friend and their family. Within hours of arriving at the hotel, Justice and his friend went into the ocean, were pulled out by the strong current and Justice drowned. No one can ever prepare for a tragedy like this and nothing will bring this sweet boy back but what we can do is honor his life and continue to spread his bright spirit with the world.
Justice’s love for soccer, transcended the game itself, he would focus on taking care of his body, mind and spirit each day off the field so he could perform his best on the field with the future vision of becoming a pro player and make enough money to give to the less fortunate.
He was already planning what large gifts he’d get for his beloved family members upon reaching pro level. Justice’s compassionate and generous spirit shined through his every interaction, he was the type of person that if you needed $5 and he only had $5 in his pocket, he would give it to you. Justice had an extreme love for fruit, sweets, and other delicious foods, if he tried something new that he really liked, he’d insist that all those around him try it as well.
Justice had a pure heart and innocent soul, and would consistently make decisions to stay on a righteous path. He would help others do the same and would often mediate conflict amongst his peers with a grace that was beyond his years. He was an incredible son, grandson, brother, teammate, and friend.
By age 8 Justice had every country and capital city in Africa memorized, and planned to visit each and every one of them. To be involved in soccer in Africa would be a dream come true for Justice, and people around the world are coming together to make this a reality.
In Uganda, a football club (soccer program) dedicated to Justice will be established in his honor.
20 years ago a man named Twesigye Jackson Kaguri started an organization in response to the AIDS/HIV pandemic and the increasing number of orphaned children in his home country and village. Starting with a small school house for the 50 most vulnerable orphans in the area, he continued a holistic approach continuing to build schools but also a health clinic, library, clean water system, farms for food, social development programs, and a network of over 20,000 grandmothers that have taken in 80,000 orphaned children. This organization is called Nyaka Aids Orphans Project. Football (soccer) is the number one sport in Uganda and the local community, but there has not yet been the funding to establish an official Nyaka Football Club. Last year a small dirt field was cleared, some handmade wooden goals were raised, and a group of men and women gathered to commit to being part of Nyaka Football Club with no resources. This year, in the name of Justice, we will establish this team and club officially with all of your help. We will provide the first set of uniforms, balls, and other training equipment. We will further develop the training field, and hire a professional coach to lead our first team. We will provide transport and entry fees for Nyaka FC (Football Club) to participate in games and tournaments with other real teams and leagues.
Justice’s name was inspired by his parents lifetime commitment to global Justice for all. Nyaka Football Club will not only spread the name of Justice, but also the principle. Through the game of football, Nyaka FC will encourage integrity and dedication on and off the field to bring more Justice to the local community in Uganda and the world at large. Thank you all for coming together to make this a reality.

..In the future, as Nyaka Football Club grows:
-More teams will be formed under Nyaka FC and players of all ages, genders, and skill levels will sign with Nyaka FC and learn the story of Justice and confirm their alignment with the mission statement.
-We will purchase more advanced training equipment.
-We will expand the current field or build a new full regulation size field.
-We will enter more leagues and tournaments and in the future host leagues and tournaments.
-We will continue to take this from a grassroots program to eventually be fully established on the national level in Uganda.
