The Quell Foundation

Dear friends and family,

Three years ago our father, Sarig Agasi, struggled with mental health and took his own life. He was a dedicated and incredibly creative chef, an adventure seeker, a friend, a speedy marathon runner, a selfless community builder, and as a loving father always encouraged us to blaze our own trails.

A lot has changed in our lives and in the world in the past 3 years. Through several unforeseen turn of events all 3 Agasi siblings embarked on a cross country, national park road trip in October. This journey brought us closer together than ever and gave us a lot of time to reflect on the world and on Abba’s (our fathers) life and death. During this reflection we, Maytal and Geffen, decided to hike a marathon in his memory/honor on the 3 year anniversary of his passing.

We will be hiking the 26.2 miles in Big Bend National Park on December 4 in south western Texas mostly because we hope the weather will cooperate. In his memory and to honor his mental health struggles we have decide to raise money for the Quell Foundation. The Quell Foundation works to end the stigma around mental health and suicide, by providing scholarships, mentorship, and resources.

After our father passed away Maytal received one of these scholarships which opened her eyes to the importance of speaking about mental health issues and inspired us to give back to this organization.

While traveling we have been backcountry camping and have been COVID cautious by staying outside, wearing our masks, and avoiding others.
