We are a quilt museum located in Marion, Indiana, inside the home of famous early 20th century quilt designer and entrepreneur Marie Webster.
Our mission statement is: “…to celebrate quilting as an art form, by honoring the lives and accomplishments of those people who have made outstanding contributions to the world of quilting; by restoration and preservation of the home of quilt designer Marie D. Webster in Marion, Indiana; by promoting educational programs, exhibitions, publications, and research; and by collecting, preserving, and documenting materials related to the Honorees of The Quilters Hall of Fame (TQHF).
LOCAL IMPACT
TQHF is not solely concerned with the art of quilting. In addition to our primary mission, we are also dedicated to efforts of community historical preservation in the city of Marion, Indiana. Recently, we purchased a historic train depot in downtown Marion and are restoring it so that it can provide an event space not only for our own events but for community use, as well as a research library, classroom space, and temperature-controlled archival storage space. TQHF believes that preserving the memory of Marie Webster and documenting the past and present in the world of quilting intimately involves community engagement and revitalization.
WHAT WE NEED
Like many other nonprofit organizations, we have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and its economic aftermath. We’ve been forced to delay essential maintenance projects while our membership and income have decreased. We are now at a critical point where we must take action to preserve our historic property in order to keep our doors open. We are in urgent need of funds for repairs, maintenance, and preparation for our upcoming Celebration and induction of our 2024 Honoree in July.
Although we are a small organization, we have had a large impact on our city and in the world of quilting. We have observed that quilting organizations, when successful, can put previously struggling cities on the map. As we strive to continue to present meaningful exhibits and educational opportunities, to preserve the legacy of Marie Webster, and to help revitalize our city we must now ask for your financial support. The Quilters Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law as no goods or services will be exchanged.
Thank you for your donation.
