** UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your generous donations. We have surpassed our $1,300 goal because of you. Upon conversation with The Restoration House we have decided to raise money for welcome baskets. There are houses on site for the families that TRH is assisting and these welcome baskets are a great way to help ease their transition. With a new goal $2,500 we know you all will help us reach this.
Your Friends,

Who We Are
We are Project Restoration, a group of five undergraduates from the University of Tennessee making an impact in the community. We are working with a 501(c)(3) non-profit The Restoration House (TRH), which assists with walking alongside low-income single-parent families with their journey towards restoration. The majority of our group was raised in a single-parent household, so our group is empathetic towards this organization.
The Restoration House was started in 2005 by Mandy and Daniel Watson who wanted to provide transitional housing for single mother-led families. In supporting these single mothers, TRH has since developed a youth program called “On Belay.” They’re committed to helping kids succeed while walking alongside them as they navigate life. Youth are encouraged to engage in the community and grow into confident and inspiring leaders.
What We Need
We are closely working with them to provide two hammocks for the youth at their after school program. Since On Belay is growing, they need more outdoor attractions for their youth. With the weather improving, this will promote using these hammocks. These hammocks will allow the youth to come together and interact with another, creating friendships within their community. Our goal is to raise $1,300 for the improvement of On Belay’s program.
This hammock is selected due to its quality, size, durability, and accessibility. With the growing population of their after school program, the kids need more places to reside. Roughly every two years, a family comes and goes into the organization, causing the number of children to fluctuate. Each hammock is $550, so the $1,300 will go towards two hammocks, shipping, and taxes.
How It Helps
Older kids may not want to play on a playground, but these hammocks will give them somewhere to engage with other kids their age in a safe space. While on the hammocks, they are able to socialize, read, relax, and many more activities. Being outside can promote creativity, self-confidence, and problem-solving in kids. Your donation will directly impact these children's lives. These hammocks will give the children a chance to communicate with each other in a group setting.
How Else You Can Help
It is understandable that not everyone is able to donate, but there are other options to help out. You can get involved by volunteering with The Restoration House, donating your time is just as beneficial as donating money or even sharing this page. You can also follow TRH on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook giving them a larger platform will help them grow as an organization.
