HOW TO BECOME A HERO TO THE KIDS
OVERVIEW
Our GoFundMe campaign to help the children of Kengmaihia, Laos needs your help. A small donation could mean the difference of a life of bondage or an education for these desperately poor children.
GOALS
1. Extend the schooling from the present 1st through 5th grades to 6th through 11th grades.
2. Help prevent the child labor recruiters from preying on the 10 year olds’s who have completed their education.
SPECIFICATIONS
Your donation will provide the improvements being made to the donated building. All labor will be done by the villagers. Basic construction materials such as cement, rock and sand for flooring. Electric wire for power. Lumber, roofing, doors and windows for protection from the elements.

Village Commitment
Even the small amount currently donated has made a difference. More ambitious projects require massive donations. These poor villagers’ only request is for the bare minimum of necessities to keep their kids in school.
Changing Policy
Local brick factories have notoriously recruited children for work in the surrounding area. The uneducated and often trusting villagers now recognize the importance of an education for the future of the kids.
WHAT YOUR CONTRIBUTION PROVIDES
Basic building materials to repair and improve the roof and walls. Waterproof siding, doors, windows and concrete flooring. Electric wire from meter to classrooms for fans, lights, fixtures and desktop computers. Photo of finished primary school (1st through 5th grade).
STOP CHILD SLAVERY
Improving the quality and length of schooling will help to protect the children. Slave labor recruiters offer the children’s parents or caretakers small sums of money, with promises of training and jobs. The kids are excited about the future prospect of a job. Some children will never return home, many will be traumatized and all will have a horror story to tell. Desperation and hopeful wishes are a powerful persuasion.
RESISTANCE TO ASSISTING FOREIGN CHILDREN
I’ve recently started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to improve and extend rural schools in SE Asia from first through fifth grade, to sixth through eleventh grade. By extending the children's education, we can help to protect them from the child slave labor recruiters who now prey upon the 10 year old’s who have completed their schooling.
Child slave labor within the USA is rare. In many countries around the world it’s a common practice. The children work in industries where the products are eventually sold to American consumers.
The number of Americans who are angered by my attempts to help these foreign kids is astonishing. I receive daily responses telling me to “think of the American kids first” or other racist type remarks. What has happened to our sense of kindness, empathy and compassion?
HOW TO BECOME A HERO TO THESE KIDS
Each donor's full name will be engraved on a metal plaque by using your last name first in alphabetical order. The plaque will be mounted on a permanent monument on school grounds. Every student will be given a number of names to learn. Teaching them to learn the proper English pronunciation and spelling of your name, plus the alphabet is an important step in their learning process. With help they will be encouraged to write personal “Thank you” letters expressing gratitude for your donation. By being a part of their education, you are a true hero.
CHILDREN HAVE A CHANCE BECAUSE OF YOU
Your generosity has the potential to deliver critically needed support for the children. Improving these two classrooms will extend student schooling by six years. Preventing child labor recruiters is an important benefit for the future of these students. Another teacher is planned when classrooms are finished. Current primary teacher has assumed the additional duties for now.
Help to solve this problem by keeping these kids in school. Please know that you are making a meaningful difference in saving and protecting the children of Kengmaihia, Laos. We hope to expand this pilot program to other small villages throughout the region and beyond.
