The Warming Shelter Inc.

In light of the recent announcement of our closure on October 1, 2024, The Warming Shelter has received an outpouring of support and countless offers to help. Many in the community have created fundraising efforts on our behalf, but there has been concern over whether the funds will reach us directly. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to create our own GoFundMe in response to these overwhelming requests.

While we cannot commit to staying open beyond the October 1, 2024 date at this time, we are confident that any funds raised will directly benefit the homeless community we have always served, no matter the outcome.

We estimate that a minimum of $200,000 would need to be raised before October 1 to allow us the ability to push back our close date beyond the winter months, whilst giving us time to explore further sustainability efforts. Beyond that, our board has made it clear that long-term funding solutions and pledges must be in place for us to continue operating.

Every dollar raised will go toward ensuring the homeless community is cared for, whether that means keeping our doors open this winter or supporting alternative efforts to provide shelter and resources in the future. Your contributions will not be in vain.
