Give a Gift of Health to Impoverished Communities
Our upcoming mission trip will make an immediate, significant impact on desperate communities who have lost access to care due to the Covid pandemic and increasing poverty. Our charity, "Together We Smile", along with our mission partners at the Hot Springs Lodge Costa Rica is determined to help as many needy communities as possible on our upcoming humanitarian mission to Costa Rica from June 30th through July 7th, 2021. This small country has struggled through the pandemic and has worsened the plight of the already vulnerable communities that fight day to day to survive. In many Central and South American countries, there are pockets of extreme poverty that suffer each tragedy greater than the general population due to a lack of education and resources. These poor communities are pushed away and become neglected. The women and children in these communities suffer the most and it is our mission to help them in any way possible. In many areas, women are often abused and taken advantage of when seeking help. The elderly are another extremely vulnerable group where we focus our energy and resources. Please help us make their world a little better.
Together We Smile is a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization and our fundraising is for equipment, supplies, medication, water, and emergency dental/medical treatment. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible. This mission is organized by Sandra L. Vargas, DMD, founder of Together We Smile Charity. Dr. Vargas has extensive international medical mission experience and understands the needs of these despairing communities.

Medical Missions - extreme demand for Dental Care! Many systemic illnesses are caused by oral infections. We find children and adults in these suffering communities that have gone years with ongoing infections and recurring abscesses, leading to major illnesses and even death. These problems cause tremendous hardship on the entire community, using up resources, causing an inability to work, and taking away from children's educational opportunities. In every mission we have completed, we find desperate people who have waited weeks for our arrival. We once had a family walk for four days to meet our group in a remote village in the Andes. As well as treatment, we have young team members that can relate to the children and educate them on the benefits of good oral health and how to take care of their teeth and gums.
Immediate Care and more! A great part of the dental profession is seeing immediate results... "TOGETHER WE SMILE" is much more. We not only provide emergency dental care to those in need, but we also work to establish a basic level of health education in the community starting with the children who are eager to learn, we deliver as many donations as our team members can pack and we encourage other members of the medical profession to join our cause to have a greater impact. We have delivered treatment, counseling, clothes, glasses, uniforms, wheelchairs, medical equipment, and countless other items. Our mission is to use our limited time to make the biggest impact possible on the communities we are fortunate enough to serve. On our last mission, the transportation company we hired returned our money on our last mission day, as a thank you for helping the community, and we immediately took the money to a medical supply store and purchased wheelchairs for a local elderly home.

These communities struggle for basic day-to-day necessities as simple as getting clean drinking water and they have faced isolation and increased poverty due to the Covid pandemic. In poverty and without monetary and educational resources many people are marginalized and never learn how to take care of themselves and their families. They also never learn how to access care even if it is available. One of our missions is to bridge this gap. Together We Smile is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Charity...as a child growing up in Colombia, South America, Sandra Vargas empathized with the struggling communities that were never able to get the support needed for the basic necessities of life and generation after generation lived in extreme poverty. Dr. Vargas and her husband, John Jennings, started the Together We Smile Charity to make an immediate impact on these communities and realize the dream of service to the people of these communities that Sandra carried with her from childhood. Together We Smile has helped hundreds of people and 100% of the money received by the charity goes directly to aid those in need.
The Hot Springs Lodge Costa Rica is located in the rainforest of Quepos, Costa Rica. The lodge was co-founded in 2012 by a small group of individuals including Jim & Lori Fancher and Scott & Diane Nieminen. The group was formed out of the desire to change the lives of those who visit and live in Costa Rica by exposing them to the incredible experience of the area’s natural surroundings while also giving back to those in need within the local communities.
The lodge itself is the home base for mission trips through our CASCADES OF GRACE (Cascadas De Gracia) ministry. Through the ministry, we have been able to provide resources, donations, and community outreach to many in the local villages around the city of Quepos.
